JOB DESCRIPTION

Quiksilver is looking for a Senior Accountant - Retail, to join the team at headquarters in Huntington Beach, CA.

POSITION SUMMARY //
Responsible for the completion of retail store functions and processes and month end close journal entries and reconciliations. Position requires frequent contact with store personnel, field personnel, vendors, distribution center personnel, and management to bring timely resolution to issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES //
1.) Retail functions which includes planning and executing the following processes:
• Daily sales audit posting to the general ledger with professional judgment using Accounting Standards Codification 605
• Resolve discrepancies
• Retrieve missing transactions
• Inventory adjustments
Research transactions
• Resolve receiving/shipping discrepancies
• Third party vendors

2.) On a daily basis, resolve routine inquiries and complex issues arising from interaction with vendors, company management, distribution centers, and store operations
• Provide responses/resolution in a courteous, timely and thorough manner

3.) Monitor sub ledger transactions are properly posting to the general ledger
• Sales and COGs reconciliation between sub ledger and general ledger
• Monitor Idoc errors
• Resolve errors by researching and fixing root cause of error

4.) Daily communication with supervisor regarding retail issues
• Best practices resolution
• Impact to the financial statements

5.) Non-Categorized Responsibilities
• Prepare month end journal entries
• Prepare month end account reconciliations including inventory roll forward
• Prepare bi annual store physical inventory reconciliation
• Perform procedures that meet Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance standards
• Develop and maintain documentation for all transaction processing
• Identify and develop process improvements that will increase accuracy and speed
• Perform other duties as needed

QUALIFICATIONS //
• Ability to make sound decisions and provide effective communication to resolve discrepancies, manage and obtain necessary documentation from vendors, distribution center and other business partners
• Strong verbal communication skills, including telephone etiquette
• Strong written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to multi-task
• Minimum of 3 years accounting experience in a high-volume, multi-unit environment
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles related to retail accounting
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

EDUCATION //
• BA / BS in Accounting strongly preferred
