Yes, BIC Surf is the same company that makes the pens, lighters and the razors, however BIC Sport has been in the business of board construction since 1979 (windsurfers). The 1st BIC Surfboard was launched in 1992 with the introduction of the 7’9” Natural Surf. Each BIC boards starts out as a prototype from one of our shapers & designers, which include Hall of Famer Peter Pan, Robbie Pearson and former World Champion Nat Young. BIC uses their years of experience to create a board that BIC knows will ride great. Sometimes the testing and critique process takes months before the right shape is found. BIC than moves on to produce a steel mould, ensuring that each board produced is exactly the same every time. BIC has two very different construction techniques, ACS & CTS, which produce two very different types of boards. Both are technologies that ensure every shape is true to the original as designed. Currently, BIC is the largest manufacturer of surfboards under one brand name. In addition, BIC also makes windsurf boards, kayaks and junior sailboats.
