ENVIRONMENTAL

Environmental Responsibility is the cornerstone of O’Douds and the main reason why we started making our own products. To the best of our abilities, we monitor the sourcing and sustainability of all of our ingredients to ensure that any processing that they undergo does not negatively impact the earth. 

Our responsibility begins with our rejection of any ingredients derived from the petroleum industry. Such ingredients (i.e. Petrolatum, Mineral Oil) are both unsustainable and harmful to the environment. We also refrain from using palm oil in any of its forms. Palm oil is one of the most common ingredients in cosmetics because it is cheap and effective, but it has large negative environmental impacts. The acquisition of palm oil is one of the primary reasons for rainforest deforestation, produces high carbon emissions, contributes to pushing species to the brink of extinction, and has been associated with widespread human rights violations. Since our first product launch, O’Douds has prioritized sustainable and recyclable packaging. This can be difficult at times because of the nature of some cosmetic products; as an example, for safety reasons we simply cannot sell shampoo in glass bottles. However, we vow to use the most environmentally friendly packaging we can on a case by case basis. For many of our products, this is achieved by using glass, which is safe for the environment and easily recyclable. For other products, such as our deodorant, we have chosen to use eco-friendly paperboard containers which are renewable, recyclable, and biodegradable.

MANUFACTURING

Our vision is that every person who has a hand in our manufacturing process, from the processing of ingredients and packaging to the production itself, will be properly compensated and valued. To the best of our ability, we interact with our distributors and their suppliers to ensure this vision. While we do not currently have the capabilities to visit all of the facilities that produce our packaging and ingredients, we work tirelessly to ensure our standards are being met. Our hope is that as we grow, our ability to maintain these standards will also grow.

O’Douds is proudly manufactured in the U.S.A. This is important because not only do we love this country and the people in it, but we contribute to the economy by supplying quality jobs.
