TRANSWORLD BUSINESS and GrindTV are excited to kick-off their first event of 2017, “What to Know for a Career in Action Sports,” a panel featuring influential figures in the industry, along with a keynote talk from Tim Morse, founder of Richer Poorer.

The event will take place on Friday, May 12th, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the Skate Park at TEN: The Enthusiast Network’s Carlsbad office. The event is designed to speak to college students, as well as recent graduates and young professionals, and will focus on topics such as journalism, marketing, sales, and events within the action and adventure sports world. The goal is to provide an educational experience for those looking to start their careers in this industry, as well as provide some history and insight into the community’s roots.

“This event opens up the conversation to graduating students and recent graduates who are looking for the tools to break into a career in this space, but may not know where to start or who to talk to,” said TRANSWORLD BUSINESS Editor Kailee Bradstreet. “We are excited to be that stepping stone, helping to facilitate discussions and connect rising talent with mentors in our space."

“In college, I was fortunate to have great mentors who were leaders in the action sports industry,” said GrindTV General Manager Aaron Carrera. “By having industry veterans come speak in an intimate and iconic setting, offering their words of wisdom to inspire tomorrow’s leaders, we hope to create an atmosphere where students and graduates are receiving information they would only learn through our event. It will be a fun day, packed with awesome speakers.”

Panels will feature an exciting line-up of industry veterans and emerging leaders from within the action sports space. Keynote speaker Tim Morse, founder of Richer Poorer, will discuss how he brought the youth culture brand to life. Additional speakers include Adam Cozens, VP and General Manager of the Dew Tour, Graham Nash, TEN director of video, Todd Prodanovich, SURFER editor, Gabi Aoun, GrindTV content director, Mike Matey, Reef VP of marketing and Garret Turk, lifestyle category director at Stance.

Space is limited. Please RSVP for the event to reserve your spot. Admission is $10 and lunch will be provided, courtesy of Banzai Bowls.
