POSITION SUMMARY //
The Head of Footwear Innovation is responsible for leading the Company’s innovation in footwear for each of the Company’s brands: Quiksilver, Roxy and DC Shoes. This person reports directly to the Global Head of Innovation and is responsible for the ideation, creation, prioritization, and delivery of short to long term project plans that fuel the innovation pipeline with aspirational and unique products aligned with customer needs and Company brand strategy. The Head of Footwear Innovation is a strong technical leader in performance footwear soles, fabrics and materials, and manufacturing processes. He/she has the ability to bridge the gap between creative and technical, and will partner closely with Design, Marketing and Sourcing & Production. The Head of Footwear Innovation will enhance each of the Company’s brands with technology and materials that will lead market trends in aesthetics, performance, delivery, and value.

RESPONSIBILITIES // The primary responsibilities of the Head of Footwear Innovation are to:
• Drive new and innovative footwear designs, components, processes, materials and concepts into manufacturable, market-able and commercially viable finished products. Translate design vision and consumer needs into products which support the Company’s product and brand strategy, as well as commercial goals.

• Proactively research new technologies and materials that achieve performance goals in line with customer needs.

• Create project roadmaps, clear deliverables, reporting cadences, and shared access management tools. Organize activities and prioritize resources to achieve transparent results on critical goals. Maintain and create a sense of urgency in creating a balanced mix of short term to long term product flows.

• Take ownership for the entire development process for all footwear innovation products with an emphasis on quality prod-uct development and timely completion of all tasks in accordance with the applicable product creation calendar and budget requirements.

• Engineer advanced technical prototypes that address desired function, aesthetic, market appeal and manufacturability within cost targets. Emphasize innovative use of components, materials, construction and execution of design where applicable to product. Review prototypes for quality, execution, and fit.

• Oversee all materials development and commercialization. Work with key material vendors with a focus on textiles, poly-mers, yarns, fabrics, thermal, non-woven, leather, midsole/outsole compounds, foams, and technical material constructions (i.e. new technical weaving and technical knitting materials). Develop and commercialize advanced material that is in line with the strategic vision of the brand. Fuel the innovation pipeline with new performance materials that deliver unique cus-tomer experiences on performance, delivery, and cost.

• Maintain project documentation and reporting to key stakeholders, participate in Innovation Committee projects reviews, present new opportunities to the Head of Innovation.

• Identify best in class vendors, research facilities, and material suppliers that will enable the Company to leverage new tech-nologies with a goal of mutually beneficial development, strong performance, and reduced complexity at a competitive cost. Provide regular updates, education, and partnership throughout the project to cross-functional teams.

• Ensure that all materials, processes and development samples are fully tested to ensure adherence to Company quality standards.
