The Breakdown:

The Enterprise Systems Administrator is responsible for the performance, integrity, security, design, documentation, protection, and maintenance of company Linux and storage systems and their respective networks. This includes on-premise operating systems and technologies such as SUSE, CentOS, Red Hat, Debian, VMware, Cisco UCS, NetApp, Nexsan, Commvault, fiber channel, and iSCSI connectivity as well as cloud platforms like Data Lakes, object stores, and blob storage. Responsibilities also include managing, protecting and maintaining database systems including Oracle, Microsoft SQL and MySQL. This role is part of a team that manages the underlying operating systems, hardware, and storage of all company systems.

What You Get to Do:

! Maintain on-premise SAN and NAS storage systems and their associated fiber channel and iSCSI connectivity

! Create and maintain storage LUNs appropriate to the requirements of the connected systems

! Develop strategies to archive data and migrate between platforms where appropriate

! Coordinate allocation of storage and forecasting space requirements (Capacity planning)

! Schedule, automate, execute, and monitor job and system performance

! Perform critical incident response, troubleshooting, and remediation activities during outages or periods of performance degradation

! Plan, coordinate, and execute data migrations and system refreshes

! Develop and administer backup and recovery procedures

! Create and maintain procedures for data movement through scripts, APIs, and data pipelines

! Fault finding and analysis of logging information for reporting of performance problems

! Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, hot fixes on Linux operating systems and servers, as well as their underlying hypervisors

! (VMware), storage systems (NetApp & Nexsan), and compute hardware (Cisco UCS)

! Drive efforts to develop and improve procedures for automated monitoring and proactive intervention, reducing any unplanned downtime

! Write system scripts for daily administration

! Document system infrastructure

! Proactive monitoring of system performance

! Provide technical and functional On-Call support

! Database monitoring, integration, replication, notification, analysis, tuning, problem resolution, reporting, and production support

! Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses

! Perform MS SQL, MySQL, and Oracle software upgrades, service packs, and versioning including testing and evaluation of patching strategies

! Enforce database security and user access

What You'll Bring to The Team:

! Eight years work experience as a Linux Systems Administrator and/or Database Administrator and/or college degree in a computer related field

! Expertise analyzing, administering, troubleshooting, and performance tuning VMware, networks and storage systems

! UNIX/Linux system management and scripting skills

! Significant background in solving complex technology challenges

! Working experience in Azure and deploying data technologies in the cloud

! Self-motivated, detail oriented, and highly responsible

! Capable of handling multiple assignments and additional responsibilities

! Ability to manage own time and workflow

! Strong documentation skills

! Ability to absorb and retain information quickly

! Keen attention to detail

! Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities

! Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

! Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

! Ability to work after hours during scheduled maintenance windows

! Experience in database maintenance and disk system performance tuning



Travel:

! The position does not require any travel



Work/Physical Environment:

! This position is in a typical, stationary office setting. Over 80% of the day will be spent sitting in 1 location

! Most work can be performed remotely, but occasional on-site work will be required

! Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer components

! Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as servers and storage system

! Our HQ is based in Burlington, Vermont and we will offer relocation assistance to any candidate who is hired if they are able to move to Burlington
