Are you an innovative and motivated Materials Developer that is looking to work with a highly progressive and collaborative team? Then we are looking for you! The Breakdown: As our Materials Developer, you will assist our Softgoods Development Team to source and develop all materials for all winter and seasonal business. You will help drive the commercialization of the product line from initial textile concept to final specifications for salesmen sample production and final bulk production; executing materials to be in compliance with timelines, quality, price, and functionality. What You Get to Do: • Initiate & follow up on performance and lifestyle material developments under consideration of quality, pricing, sustainability and design limitations. • Ensure that quality standards are met in regards to suitable fabric applications on garments and for fabrics. • Be responsible for maintaining all the fabric related data in PLM. • Establish and maintain a close relationship with product development, design, sourcing and external partners/suppliers. Support development, product management, and design with technical and commercial expertise on fabrics. • Manage internal material library for fabrics. • Track fabric testing report and risk assessment tool to level set expectations across functional areas. • Participate in weekly cross-functional meetings; ensure fabric approval and documentation to all business partners to meet sampling and production deadlines • Lead and drive the standard development process from establishing seasonal calendar, influencing color selection based on achievability, ensuring on-time delivery of standards and tools against critical dates, and evaluating execution to continue to refine process execution • Make color development part of fabric development by ensuring both dark (like true black) and tricky (like Hawk, falcon) colors can be executed on every material. If a color is not possible to be achieved on a substrate, let Design and merchandising know to about color limitations. • Own and lead execution of Print Production for all softgoods categories. • Partner with CAD team, design and mill on placement prints (design's intent/measurements, fabric limitations, concept's approval of changes to art) • Partner with merchandising throughout the line building process for any additional print related questions/needs. What You'll Bring to the Team: • Knowledge of fabric construction standards and manufacturing methods • A working knowledge of garment manufacturing process. • An energetic, positive, helpful demeanor • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in the textile/fashion industry/or a degree in textile science or fashion design • The ability to multitask and be highly effective under pressure in a fast-paced environment • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • An ability to well both individually and in a team environment • Microsoft Office, Word, Excel programs and/or fashion base computer applications experience.
