About the job

The Breakdown: In this role, you will be responsible for creating and implementing Burton's global athlete & ambassador strategy. You will lead the relationship between Global Integrated Marketing and the Regional Marketing teams to build and communicate global athlete & ambassador strategy, ultimately ensuring that the marketing strategy is successfully implemented, managed and reported on. You will work cross-collaboratively with: Global Brand and Team Management, Regional Team Management, Global Consumer Marketing, Global Events, Global PR and Global Insights teams. What You Get to Do: • Create, maintain, and manage Burton's global athlete & ambassador strategy in partnership with global and regional marketing managers. • Define business objectives and articulate how athletes & ambassadors will support the Burton business overall. • Build an ambassador program from the ground up - develop the strategy, concept the program, obtain buy-in from key global / regional stakeholders, socialize and launch. • Determine what aspects of the ambassador program is managed globally vs. regionally, roles and responsibilities, performance reporting, and evolution of the program. • Build a long-term investment plan to responsibly allocate funds across global and regional budgets to either invest or divest athletes & ambassadors according to the business strategy. • Ensure proper representation and diversity of athletes & ambassadors across all global and regional teams. • Collaborate with Team Management and Product Marketing on the timely delivery of promotional product for athletes and ambassadors and track usage and reviews. • Build a development plan/life cycle for how an athlete flows through the Burton organization - from joining the team through retirement. • Build and develop a value scale that helps guide our pay structure for athletes and ambassadors. • Establish objectives for how different athletes can and will contribute to the business and/or support the brand, and measure success and performance in that area - reporting back and infusing that knowledge into future strategy evolution. • Socialize and implement global athlete and ambassador strategy in global office, as well as, the America's, Europe, and Asia Pacific. • Collaborate with the Brand, Product Marketing, and Team Managers to align athletes and ambassadors to marketing campaigns. • Cultivate relationships with athletes and ambassadors to ensure you have an understanding of the value they bring to the brand and the best way to leverage the individuals across our communication framework. • Ensure all product marketing is aligned with global athlete & ambassador strategy to properly portray the brand in key markets. • Take into account an entire ecosystem of internal and external variables when building strategy. • Collaborate with athletes & ambassadors to review strategy and then infuse feedback into future strategies. • Act as the liaison and host between athletes & ambassadors when they come to the global headquarters in Burlington, Vermont. • Work with team managers to collect information on potential new athletes & ambassadors that can authenticate the brand. What You'll Bring to The Team: • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education experience is required. A focus in business, marketing or strategy is encouraged. • Management positions require 4 - 6 years of strategy experience. • Highly collaborative and works well with a wide range of people and personalities. • True expertise in market value for athletes & ambassadors, building global strategies, and a high-level grasp of all that is going on in outdoor and snow industry. • Must be a highly organized self-starter and team player with polished presentation and interpersonal skills. • Experience with SAP, Adobe Suite, Microsoft 360 Applications, Trello and Slack a plus. • The position requires some overnight and/or international travel.
