About the job

The Breakdown: As the Communications Manager for Burton, you'll join the team that creates and shares news about the world's leading snowboard company. You'll work closely with Burton executives to plan and craft internal communications. You'll also create communications materials about Burton's industry-leading products, programs and people for a variety of audiences. This is your chance to shape how Burton shares its stories both inside and outside the company. What You Get to Do: • Develop and activate communications strategies for a variety of internal and external initiatives. • Regularly evaluate Burton's internal communications processes on a global level and propose what should be continued, discontinued, streamlined or improved. • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to deliver communications plans for internal announcements and news. • Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal communications mediums, such as the company intranet, executive emails, board of director communications etc. • Draft talking points for senior executives for company meetings and press interviews. • Ensure internal communications are consistent across all mediums and regions. • Conceptualize and draft clear, compelling and accurate materials for press, including fact sheets, global press releases and pitches. • Craft statements for press on a variety of topics upon request. • Work closely with key stakeholders to establish effective crisis communication and response strategies for a variety of scenarios. • Keep an eye on industry trends and identify when/where we need new approaches to internal and external communications. • Create and contribute to strategies, reports and presentations upon request. • Share and post press coverage internally on behalf of the Communications group. What You'll Bring to the Team: • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or other relevant field. • Minimum of 5-6 years of professional experience in communications, public relations, journalism or a similar field. • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills as well as the journalistic ability to source stories and create clear & compelling materials for media. Writing samples will be requested. • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills in order to work with different departments. The successful candidate will also need to possess the confidence to advise senior executives and create communications on their behalf. • Ability to be highly strategic about messaging, timing, and communications channels.
