Revolving around a core value-driven curriculum, Chill programs consist of experiential learning activities, reflection, and discussion, paired with board sport lessons. Chill's six core values provide youth with a foundation and framework for learning and growth, supported and enhanced through on-board progression and adult mentorship. Chill removes all barriers to accessing boardsports by providing participants with everything they need to get after it, at absolutely no cost. New skills gained through boardsport progression and core-value exploration are then directly applied to everyday life, challenging youth to step out of their comfort zone - both on and off their board.



Program Assistant Job Description:

As the Vancouver Program Assistant, you will work closely with the Program & Community Coordinator to execute Chill's seasonal programs in Vancouver, in order to achieve Chill's mission of inspiring youth to overcome challenges through boardsports. You will collaborate with the Program & Community Coordinator in implementing day-to-day operations of a remote, year round Chill site, including facilitation of experiential learning skateboard and snowboard programs, as well as assisting with other operational tasks such as gear organization and storage, program preparation and closure tasks, collecting and tracking paperwork, and program execution.

In this role, you will report to Chill'sVancouver Program & Community Coordinator and theWest Coast Regional Manager.

This position is seasonal, part time, hourly/non-exempt, 20 hours/week, $16.00/hour, without benefits, from October 1st through January 28th. Perks include a discounted season pass, product discounts, free demo equipment, ride days, casual work environment, and many more...

Program Facilitation:

! In collaboration with Program & Community Coordinator:

! Communicate effectively with youth agencies, volunteers, agency leads and partners

! Facilitate Chill's experiential learning, core value-driven curriculum for varying group sizes, typically 10-45 youth per program, including creation of daily program plans, activities, and debriefs

! Engage and utilize volunteer program mentors and agency leads at each program

! Exceed the standards set in the Chill Quality Assessment (CQA)

! Manage, maintain, and organize program gear inventory, gear space, and storage space, including seasonal cleaning, inventorying, and ordering from Chill HQ

! Represent Chill as a visible ambassador in the community

! Safely adhere to Chill's COVID-19 Guidelines at all times

Community Engagement:

! In collaboration with Program & Community Coordinator:

! Sustain and grow relationships with existing agencies in order to increase impact locally, deepen community/agency relations, and identify new and sustainable opportunities for partnering

Development and Marketing:

! In collaboration with Program & Community Coordinator:

! Contribute marketing content to Chill's Marketing team for social media and website use, including high quality program photos and testimonials

! Assist with communication and recruitment for Chill's annual Peer-to-Peer fundraising campaign

Education/Experience/Professional Skills:

! Work Ethic/Organization:

! Organized and self-motivated

! Experience working independently, managing time efficiently, and setting own schedule

! Proven ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and prioritize to meet goals and objectives

! Boardsports:

! Ability to gain introductory boardsport skills with basic understanding of equipment maintenance (Chill will provide instruction/equipment for learning new skills/sports, basic equipment training, and progression opportunities for sport specific certifications)

! Youth Experience:

! Experience working with youth in at least 1 setting (ie. youth agency, probationary programs, rehab facilities, schools, outdoor education, experiential education, etc.)

! Experience working with youth of diverse identities and backgrounds

! Previous experience with Chill (alumni youth, mentor, agency lead, etc) a plus.

! Certification/Education:

! Relevant education, training, or experience in social work, psychology, education, recreation, adventure learning, youth program facilitation or similar field

! Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification (Chill will cover this cost)

! Logistics/Communication:

! Strong written and verbal communication skills

! Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for commuting to program/transporting gear (some exceptions may apply)

! Ability to use personal cell phone for work related tasks

! Physical Demands/Essential Job Functions:

! Working nights and/or weekends during program facilitation (time/day of week dependent on program site and sport)

! Working outdoors in all seasons/weather conditions

! Moving program gear/equipment weighing up to 50lbs (up to 160lbs for mobile skate park equipment) and transporting it between storage space and program site
