Coordinator Public Relations (Action Sports): Become the Newest Member of the Vans Family
Vans is searching for a remarkable talent an excellent communicator who is constantly overflowing with creativity, resilience, confidence, and enthusiasm. As the Public Relations Coordinator for Action Sports, you will support the critical development of messaging and tools for compelling storytelling of the Vans brand and its long-standing heritage in Action Sports. Your purpose is to raise the profile of the Vans brand and products through the use of earned media and establish a strong relationship between Vans and the public; which will lead to their connection to our brand.

In this role, you will execute comprehensive communications programs to supportVans Action Sports marketing objectivesand strategies across media to build brand awareness, affinity and loyalty amongst a global audience. You will leverage all Vans proprietary resources, including heritage and history, events and promotions, athletes and influencers, in addition to annual brand initiatives to generate meaningful interest in the brand pillar of Action Sports among customers and consumers.During your time here, you will foster relationships and work closely withtop-tier action sports media targeting skate, surf, snow, bmx and outdoor to promote the Vans brand, brand platforms and its performance products through influential third parties.

With a unique understanding of the action sports landscape, your role will educate media and consumers about the Vans brand seasonally, while upholding the brands authenticity and celebrating action sports at the core of everything that we do.

How You Will Make a Difference:
Show leadership in implementing global public relations strategies that promote Vans action sports objectives and initiatives across athletes, products, brand platforms and influencer networks. Maintain Vans positive reputation with the public by driving awareness to the brands action sports heritage and product innovations. Develop communication assets and deliverable against Vans go-to-market action sports deadlines, which include creating press releases, biographies, and brand copy points that effectively convey the brands heritage and seasonal key initiatives. Engage in relationship-building activities with key media, stylists, celebrities, influencers and agency partners in order to build trust in our brand and products, and cultivate impactful media relationships worldwide. Execute product publicity programs for performance footwear and apparel in action sports categories through proactive media pitching and seeding for athletes, celebrities, and influencers, and coordinating global action sports events year-round. Manage incoming media requests for product and company information to secure positive earned media editorial and drive traffic to brand channels. Track editorial coverage and product placement across all mediums, sharing key coverage with global and regional peers, in addition to developing return on investment analysis reports.

Skills for Success:
Years of Related Professional Experience: 3+ years

Educational/ Position Requirements:
Bachelors degree or equivalent from four-year college or university or 4 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience and/or knowledge of action sports industry required
Skills
Cultivates a unique understanding of the action sports landscape to communicate to media about the Vans brand seasonally.
Working knowledge of mass media and its operations including the how Social Media affects public relations outreach
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and communication with other management staff, marketing partners, employees, media, athletes and the general public
Strong emphasis on professional writing and copywriting skills. Existing portfolio or writing samples are required.
Basic computer skills along with working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and Photoshop. Experience in PR media databases such as Cision, Meltwater, and MuckRack are a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Detail-oriented and able to multi-task
Strong organizational skills

Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:
Travel required up to 30%
Ability to work various shifts and weekends as necessary
Drive personal vehicle to Vans locations as needed
Bend, lift, open and move product and related office items varying in weight from 1 to 25 lbs, depending on need
