Director, Customization: Become the Newest Member of the Vans Family
As the Director of Customization, you are a senior strategic business leader who will take ownership for leading the customization strategy and efforts across our global brand. You will be responsible for end to end contributions to this effort to include identifying opportunities, working with teams to define strategy, developing products and offerings and supporting ongoing execution. This is a global, cross-functional role that will span across product, marketing and distribution. To be successful, you must bring strategic thinking, industry experience and insights to lead and influence lead senior level, cross functional teams. You must possess deep retail and/or Consumer Packaged Goods experience and possess the ability to manage the entire processes from problem identification and definition through analytics, project planning and team management. How You Will Make a Difference:
You will assess the consumer and competitive landscape to identify areas of opportunity
You will have command of the customization marketplace and knowledge of competitors
You will function as a strategic leader who defines the Vans vision for customization and value proposition to win in the marketplace
You will create, share and influence a powerful vision for change
You will develop an execution plan to deliver against that vision and strategy
You will lead through influence across functions and regions with both direct and indirect authority
You will have the opportunity to manage a globally consistent but locally relevant process across all regions
You will support an assessment of innovation opportunities to create new experiences
You will drive collaboration across functions including eCommerce, in-store activations, wholesale account activations and events and promotions
You will identify opportunities to expand into new markets as well as and new innovative platforms
You will deal with ambiguity in quickly evolving work situations
Skills for Success:
Years of Related Professional Experience: 10+ years
Educational/ Position Requirements:
A Bachelors degree in Business or related field and a minimum of 10 years general management experience in the field or an equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Experience working in the consumer goods and/or retail industry with branded retail experience. Experience in the consulting industry a plus.
Superior market knowledge.
Exceptional strategic thinker.
Ability to lead through influence and work with counterparts across the organization to create synergy, effectiveness, and provide strategies that are complimentary to brand objectives.
Strong leadership skills including interpersonal, communication, team building and problem-solving ability.
Keen ability to lead and navigate change.
Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:
Travel by air and overnight, as required 10% amount of time.
