About the job

This position will partner with key members of La Jolla Group’s ecommerce and brand marketing departments to develop all brand copy. Brands currently include Men's and Women’s divisions for O’Neill, Metal Mulisha, Spiritual Gangster and Roark. Copy responsibilities include all marketing copy, catalog copy, product descriptions, in-store and online marketing copy, web banners, newsletters, print ads, online ads, press releases, blog posts, and other customer facing outlets.


• Partner with creative team members and marketing to conceptualize and execute seasonal campaigns and storytelling.
• Develop and write headlines, sub-headlines, calls to action and subject lines for homepages, landing pages, blog posts or special features, promotions and e-mail blasts that drive sales by compelling the customer to take action (often while up against tight deadlines).
• Write creative product descriptions for all LJG brands that seamlessly blend editorial and technical information, utilize Search Engine Optimization (SEO) practices and persuade the customer to purchase. Collaborate with designers, marketing and merchandisers as necessary to communicate the most accurate product information.
• Self-edit and proofread copy to ensure that the message speaks to the target audience and is consistent, grammatically correct, adheres to brand voice and company guidelines. Edit, proofread and provide constructive feedback and direction to social media team members.
• Uphold high standards for proper grammar usage and sentence structure for all written communication. Apply filter to all brand communications to ensure brand voice is appropriately conveyed.
