Department: Production
Position: Import Logistics Manager
Report to: VP of Sourcing & Production

Position Duties:

Manage and take responsibility for the delivery of all inbound (FOB/LDP) freight from overseas origins to La Jolla Group, Irvine.
• Update company import schedule on a daily basis and distribute schedule findings to the production department.
• Maintain open communication and develop relationships with manufacturing vendor network. Make daily/weekly contact with both FOB/LDP vendors in order to make accurate updates.

Manage all relationship with Custom Broker, Freight forwarders and inbound domestic truckers.

• For Import ocean shipments (only), insure ISF (Importer Security Filing) is filed by cutoff date at origin, to avoid penalty from Customs.
• Coordinate necessary shipping documents with proper MID (Manufacturer ID), COO, Water Resistance Certificate, IFI/FDRA, etc to the Customs broker.
• Handle air/ocean/trucking contracts and rate negotiation.
• Provide up to date and accurate estimated expenses for air/ocean freight duty and other transportation related costs by product category and HTS classification.

Manage Letter of Credit terms for company and manufacturing vendors.

• Create new L/C application and Amendments and maintain L/C schedule/setup in Wells Fargo system.
• Confirm all L/C purchases are covered by a proforma invoice received 90 days prior to ETD date.
• Ensure Airway and Steamship Guarantees are released quickly and efficiently prior to port arrival.
• Process any discrepancies and respond/approve them in the bank system.

Analyze the rapidly changing importing environment and monitor events that would impact the ability to deliver product from overseas to the company. Report key facts to VP.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business & or 5 - 10 years of transportation/procurement experience.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills at various levels.
• Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and respond quickly to problems.
• Must be organized and be able to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines and be able to perform self-initiated and planned activities.
• Computer knowledge and experience required. Experience in Full Circle, OMB (PO Management), Sero system is a plus.
