To oversee the creative development of product for the O’Neill women’s division including sportswear, swim, girl/kids, axx, & footwear
o Teach and manage your designers in a positive and constructive manner while nurturing creativity at all levels
o Build and maintain strong partnerships with the other design departments, production, tech, merchandising, sales,
o Filter communication between Creative Director and design team
o making sure team hits deadlines
o Drive overall process related to design, development, execution, and production.
o Direct department standards and daily work flow.
o Manages calendar
o Keeping creative director updated and in the loop on any urgent matters
o Ability to manage budgets
o Conceptualizing overall direction for the brand
o Create seasonal stories that designers to build product around
o Lead print and color direction
o Initiate and direct all silhouette, print and fabric trend meetings for each season.
o Recognize and accurately forecast fashion and cultural trends with a proven ability to translate market trends and concepts
o Responsible for the creation of visual tools used in presentations for internal line reviews and sales departments
o Travel for inspiration and have group meetings to be able to show your samples and inspirations
o Lead and direct key initiatives across all product categories.
o Work with design team to hit pricing / margin goals
o Create an environment where the design and merchandising teams work closely together to produce exceptional product in a short time frame.
o Responsible for the Design department’s execution of high quality tech packages.
o Consistently identifying opportunities to increase productivity and efficiency within the division
o Ability to present concepts and collections effectively at mgmt. reviews and sales meetings
o Qualified candidates should have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in apparel design
o Proven leadership experience and managerial skills.
o Experience managing large teams.
o Ability to set overall creative tone and lead creative design process
o Excellent sense of style and color
o College degree in Fashion Design or related field
o Computer skills – MS Office, Illustrator, and Photoshop
o Strong problem-solving abilities, organizational and planning skills required.
o Works well under pressure and tight deadlines.
o Firm understanding of costing and garment construction.
o Excellent written and oral communication skills along with the ability to facilitate meetings are necessary.
o Experience working with Full Circle/PLM software a big plus.
