The design manager bridges the relationship between design staff and the design director. The manager oversees the design processes from beginning to end. This individual is comfortable managing people and contributes creatively at every level.

Essential Job Functions

1. Mentoring team members
• Design Team will report to this person
• Evaluate performances
• Collaborating with team members
• Review design tech packs with team
• Sit in tech pack handovers with merch team
• Review all print artwork before being handed over
• Sit in print handovers
• Sit in on fittings

2. Develop design strategies
• Collaborate with Creative Director on seasonal direction
• Help develop print and color stories
• Provide seasonal direction on silhouette and fabric innovation
• Work through line plan with each designer/division in preparation for final design/sales reviews, select fabrications, silhouettes etc.
• Manage designs with merch team to full fill line plan and strategies

3. Manage projects
• Filter communication between Creative Director and design team
• Make sure team hits calendar deadlines
• Attend all design meetings
• Manage print budget

4. Additional responsibilities
• Continue to design when needed.
o When team is struggling to hit a deadline, you might need to step in.
o Work on special projects / design colabs
o Design a portion of the line
• Travel for inspiration and development
