About the job
James Oro is seeking a Men's Apparel Designer to oversee the product creation lifecycle from initial design development, to first round sampling, to final product. The ideal candidate has domestic and overseas menswear cut and sew apparel experience, knowledge of fabric development, woven and knit construction, garment wash, dye, and manufacturing techniques.
• Technical design of all apparel - including tops, bottoms, & outerwear.
• Work with creative director & senior designer to develop apparel collections.
• Ensure garments fit is proper
• Create detailed tech packs to be sent to manufacturers
• Communicate with vendors to ensure all products are correct and delivered on time
• Conceptualize new trims and logo development
• Conduct market and trend research
Requirements:
• Minimum of 2 year’s experience working as an apparel designer
• Degree in Fashion Design or Product Development, or equivalent experience
• Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign
• Highly proficient in fabric development, wash process, garment construction and fit
• Creative mindset with a deep understanding of streetwear and highly focused on details
• Able to proactively own & execute designated tasks independently, with a high level of comfort asking for help when needed
