Job Description

The North Face, based in Alameda, CA (San Francisco Bay Area), is seeking a Senior Product Director for its Mountain Sports category.

The Senior Product Director (Mountain Sports) manages the assigned product categories to drive the design and commercial development of premium, innovative and technologically enhanced products that meet the needs of elite mountain athletes for mountaineering, climbing, and hiking. Provides dynamic, visible and inspirational leadership to positively impact business initiatives, direction, and vision for team and peers. Accountable for business results and executing key Brand initiatives. Brings a track record of leading highly technical products that are coveted by elite mountain athletes while being able to commercialize high volume product stories that are authentic and connected to our core sports.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Create the vision for the category which is manifested in a three year line plans and global line architecture.
2. Develop, implement, and monitor processes to ensure timely completion in accordance to product
development calendar for each season.
3. Manage the merchandising and design process for assigned product lines to meet established sales/margin targets as stated in the corporate financials.
4. Partner with Marketing in the development of programs and strategies to communication product attributes and appeal.
5. Partner with Merchandising team to ensure that new product development meets market needs.
6. Manages budgets to meet corporate financial plans.
7. Partner internationally with regional product management and counterparts to ensure that international consumer, market and product needs are met
8. Present Category lines at preview meetings, key preline appointments and sales meetings. Effectively
9. manage the PLM process by communicating concepts, filtering input, and setting line direction.
10. Partner with Product Acquisition (Sourcing) and Sales to price the line at the competitive levels to achieve targeted initial mark-up goals as stated in Corporate financials.
11. Accountable for bringing to market innovative, premium, technical products that drives sales to meet goals.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:
1. Years of Related Professional Experience: 15+
2. BA or BS degree in Textiles, Business, Merchandising or related field and 15+ years minimum relevant and progressive experience and 8+ years in management including leading a team
3. Outdoor Industry experience is a plus.
4. Strong working knowledge of Apparel merchandising and sales.

Skills:
1. Strong working knowledge and background of apparel merchandising and design
2. Experience in managing a diverse and creative group of individuals and leading change
3. Demonstrated ability to work with and inspire a broad range of individuals to work toward a common goal
4. Experience in global nuances as it relates to product/features/price points.
5. Strategic leader with the proven ability to recruit, retain, motivate and develop team.
6. Strategic leader with proven ability to make money and grow apparel categories
7. Must have a track record in re-establishing procedures, implementing key marketing and sales initiatives and executing processes.
8. International experience preferred
