Job Description

The Junior Copywriter is responsible for writing, editing and proofreading copy for a diverse range of projects including The North Face ecommerce website, product workbooks, seasonal marketing initiatives, in-store signage, online features and banners, and other miscellaneous projects as needed. We are looking for a passionate gear head that lives and breathes outdoor/mountain/action sports and has an intimate knowledge of the language and culture. If you’re more powder day than brunch, know when to pack a soft shell versus a hard shell and can’t wait to get your hands on the latest pair of trail running shoes, then we want to hear from you.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Write a high volume of product descriptions that effectively communicate the features, benefits, technologies and usages to the consumer.
- Write in the appropriate brand voice and tone for each category or product line.
- Work with product teams to learn seasonal product lines and technologies.
- Craft clear and concise product and feature descriptions for all apparel, equipment, footwear and youth.
- Differentiate similar products in large product lines through effective product-specific writing.
- Understand, distill and communicate complex construction, material and fabric technologies to both consumers and dealers.
- Edit and proofread extensive technical content and specifications for accuracy.
- Write and edit in accord with The North Face style guide.
- Use correct spelling, grammar, punctuation and structure.

Job Requirements

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications or related field.
- Professional ecommerce or catalog writing experience, preferably within the outdoor industry.
- Encyclopedic knowledge of outdoor and action sports products and culture.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized and detail oriented.
- Can work independently and prioritize projects effectively.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
- Experience with backend content applications.
- Understands writing metatag keywords and descriptive SEO copy and/or has the desire to learn.
- Proficient in MS Office, Excel and Word.
