Global Director ofMerchandising: Become the Newest Member of The North Face!

Leads the Global Merchandising team of assigned territory to create compelling assortments that drive growth and revenue across channels and categories. Collaborate with Global Planning team to ensure assortments meet strategic vision and financial targets. Strategically partner with Regional Merchandising teams to ensure global assortment plan translates to regional plans while also driving for a more global assortment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Build global assortment plans, by territory, in support of merchandising financial plans and assortment plans generated by global planning, in support of global financial plans while understanding regional needs
Build and execute a strategic plan to grow shared global assortment between all regions
Reconcile regional merchandising financial plans, assortment plans & line plans at key milestones to ensure alignment
Partner with Regional Merchandising teams, Creative Director, Marketing Director and GM to ensure territory vision and value proposition are being upheld while maintaining brand DNA
Drive Global Segmentation at Consumer, Territory, Channel & Tier level to create necessary distinction for sustainable growth
Identify growth opportunities, big ideas as well as drive global alignment and effectiveness of the assortment
Manage and drive growth of global placement of icons and franchise
Develop global pricing strategy & supporting margin goals at a style level to maintain category margin targets provided by Global Planning team
Manage global SKU productivity and efficiency to targeted goals while balancing region, channel and account specific needs
Understand competitive global markets and ensure assortment and categories properly position The North Face to grow and gain market share. Ensure line plan and product briefings efficiently express global vision, while maintaining regional relevance. Partner with Marketing on the development of programs and strategies to communicate product attributes and appeal
Partner and collaborate with Global Wholesale/Sales team and DTC to ensure channel and account needs are met
Partner and collaborate with Regional Merchandising teams to understand specific needs
Global Lifecycle management for Icons and Key Franchises
Deliver to all elements of the CORE model including achieving Milestone Meeting targets (eg Merch Line Plan) and calendar deadlines
Lead competitive intel (Market, Competition, Pricing)
Vetting of flow plans

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
8+ years of experience in branded merchandise/development, retail buying or product design/development; experience in Outdoor Industry, apparel/footwear a plus.
5+ years in management including leading a team.
International experience a plus.
Bachelor of Arts: Merchandising, Product Management, Business preferred.
Experience in managing/developing a team or individual towards growth potential.
Strong communication skills both verbal and written, strong cross functional collaboration skills required.
Strong presentation skills, proven ability to influence in front of accounts.
Strong understanding of assigned Marketplace, including regional differences and across diverse channels of distribution.
Ability to lead and play an integral role within a broader team, connects the department and individual expectations to the company vision; confidence and presence to lead a diverse team.
Proven skills in selecting talent and developing others.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines.
Ability to work with others as part of cross-functional team, build consensus, and achieve results across variety of distinct groups.
Experience in product forecasting, statistical modeling, and/or strategic planning.
Strong working knowledge of apparel merchandising design and/or sales.
Strategic leader with proven ability to successfully grow apparel/footwear/equipment businesses.
Domestic travel required: 40 - 50%
