About the job



Leads the Category Product Development team to drive excellence in fit, engineering and costing. Ensure the team is balancing quality and cost to deliver on designs aesthetic and intent. Drives product excellence, technical innovation and construction development with a strong consumer focus.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Drives the product development process from 1st proto through to production-ready styles and hand-off to VF sourcing.
Ensures technical and costing partners collaborate to develop high-quality, technical product that meets price targets while maintaining TNFs DNA for authentic and technical product.
Owns the fit strategy, in collaboration with design, and ensures fit consistency throughout product category.
Collaborates with design on all fit sessions to ensure design aesthetic is translated into proto/ sample.
Owns the costing process, including pre-cost estimates, first costs through to final cost.
Partners with design and merchandising to ensure all products/ styles meet or exceed pre-determined gross margin targets. Provides solutions as necessary.
Executes costing of product to ensure pricing targets are met or exceeded.
Ensures team is delivering to key functional responsibilities including:Develops BOMs in support of tech pack creation.
Evaluates all samples (fit, SMS, pre-production) for correct technical specifications and are within tolerance
Estimating pre-costs and drive costing process in conjunction with VF sourcing

Deliver to all elements of the CORE model and ways of working by ensuring all fittings, costing, tech packs and all activities are completed in line with Product Creation calendar.

SKILL & REQUIREMENTS
10+ years minimum relevant and progressive experience and 5+ years in management including leading a team.
BA or BS degree in Marketing, Business, Merchandising or related field.
Outdoor Industry experience is a plus.
Strong working knowledge of apparel merchandising and sales.
Experience in managing a diverse and creative group of individuals and leading change.
Demonstrated ability to work with and inspire a broad range of individuals to work toward a common goal.
Must have a track record in re-establishing procedures, implementing key marketing and sales initiatives and executing processes.
International experience preferred.
Computer/Software Applications: Strong working knowledge of MS Office software, Specification Management programs, and CAD Drawing skills for technical and construction detail sketches & related art.
Excellent organizational skills and strong aptitude for systems and systematic work.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Successful project management skills and knowledge of the product cycle and product development timelines.
Strong knowledge of the product category assigned.
Experience in global nuances as it relates to product/features/price points.
Strategic leader with the proven ability to recruit, retain, motivate and develop a team.
Strategic leader with proven ability to make money and grow category.
Knowledge of materials used to build innovative apparel products.
Knowledge of the engineering and manufacturing processes used to build apparel products.
Strong knowledge of specifications management, product costing, and size/fit (as applicable).
