About the job



An Associate Product Developer at The North Face is responsible for the creation, revision and maintenance of specifications for innovative, technologically advanced products of the highest level.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Contributes to the development process of company product lines as assigned.
Tracks the development schedule of assigned products to ensure a timely completion following the predetermined product development calendar.
Ensures both the technical superiority and the product quality/integrity of all products falling under their responsibilities.
Assists Product Development Leads with product specifications, materials, color, and maintenance and discrepancies concerning the aforementioned categories.
Contributes to fit consistency through arranging and executing established testing procedures and protocols
Creates the specifications for the products, publishes, and maintains all records, style files, and samples associated with the product and related programs.
Follows up with Material Sourcing and manufacturers regarding development of new materials used to create innovative and technically superior products each season.
Interacts with Development Manager, Development category leads, and all necessary cross-functional teams in order to guarantee the integrity of product specifications.
Performs these and other duties as assigned by Development manager

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
0-3 years of experience in Technical Design/Product Development in a medium or large size company, preferably in the outdoor industry. [Optional]
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Design, Product Development or Manufacturing. Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Able to lead a meeting with supervision.
Able to independently manage product of low to moderate complexity.
Demonstrates an increasing knowledge of fit, patternmaking, and construction expertise, and knowledge of manufacturing processes.
Demonstrates an increasing knowledge of product category, product materials, and product development lifecycle.
Demonstrates great interpersonal skills, including the ability to create trust with cross functional teams.
Participates in special projects, process or calendar optimization if required, with supervision.
Able to avoid conflict with coaching.
Able to proactively troubleshoot and proposes solutions to problems with some complexity.
Demonstrates clear and accurate verbal and written communication.
Drives results to achieve goals.
Demonstrates strong organizational skills.
Demonstrates proficient computer skills in MS Office software, Adobe Illustrator, and Specification Management programs [Enovia]. Knowledge of patternmaking systems a plus.
Deadline driven with a track record for delivering great results on time.
