What You Will Do
The analyst is responsible forsupporting the sustainability strategy at The North Face through research, writing, and analytic input for corporate sustainability programs and projects. This explorer is part of a team charged with ensuring the brand is implementing environmentally responsible business practices with a focus on product development, materials selection and manufacturing processes. Maintain trends in environmental science, renewable resources, sustainable work processes, and other diverse fields. This role will require a high level of collaboration with teams across the brand, including Materials, Product, Merchandising, and Marketing. This role will also work with the VF Sustainability team on data gathering and reporting.


How You Will Make A Difference

Manage sustainable materials usage data across all product categories (Apparel, Accessories/Equipment, and Footwear) and track progress towards TNFs Science Based Targets materials footprint reduction goals.
Collect and manage environmental impact data, such as verified Higg FEM scores for T1 and T2 suppliers, Higg BRM scores, and track progress towards SBT reduction goals.
Use our internal product rating tool to calculate the percentages of sustainable content in our seasonal collections
Manage preferred materials traceability and transparency data, and assist with verification of preferred materials attributes/certifications (including recycled or organic content, and RDS-certified down)
Generate product sustainability insights based on product sales and consumer feedback
Track various environmental metrics (ex. carbon offset numbers, retail waste program data) for external communications (website, VF sustainability reporting, etc.)
Maintain and report on latest sustainability trends including reporting, product design and development, eco-preferred materials, manufacturing techniques, industry compliance and regulations, NGO activity

What You Bring
Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Data Analytics, Supply Chain, or related fieldEquivalent years of experience in a substantially similar industry may be considered in lieu of a degree to be determined by the nature of the specific job and the hiring managers criteria

Apparel industry experience and understanding of supply chains and product development is preferred
1+ year of professional experience in supply chain management, data management, or related role
Familiarity with sustainability reporting metrics and schemes including carbon accounting, HIGG Index, and Science Based Targets
Strong data analytics skills (including database development, process implementation and management, and reporting)
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
Strong written and oral communication skills
Knowledge of life cycle assessment processes and an understanding of how to evaluate a products environmental footprint
Knowledge of preferred textile materials, such as organic cotton and recycled polyester
Ability to take data, analyze it, and communicate it effectively to drive decision making
Attention to detail and data accuracy are a must for this position
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams and stakeholders, both internally and externally
Knowledge of navigating PLM
