What You Will Do
The primary responsibilities of the (Sr) Designer are to provide design work of innovative and technologically advanced products that meet the needs of the companys customers and end users and which in turn drives company sales and profits. This position should be comfortable designing whole collections around coherent themes, functions, prices, etc. The (Sr.) Designer should be comfortable providing foundation to design team for a collection, combining all necessary trend, material, and market research into a viable product line. Accountable for the creative production of designs to enhance the product category. Brings a track record of skillful technical design with success on the market and within elite end-users. Driving excellence in fit and engineering, while balancing quality and cost to deliver on designs aesthetic and fit intent.

How You Will Make A Difference
Responsible for the high-quality execution of designs Climb and Alpine category.

Works with Product Director and Designer Manager to give input on line and product direction.

Execution of individual designs and collections appropriate to product and design brief. Creation of high quality design packages during design process. Use of Illustration and Asst Design resources to support design effort.

Responsible for proof of concept work by design team.

Drives product excellence in existing and new innovative construction methods with a strong consumer focus.

Tracks a design schedule to ensure a timely completion following the predetermined product development calendar.

Researches industry and product for new information.

Maintains working knowledge of outdoor industry through personal relationship to snow sports, alpinism and mountaineering as well as through cross-functional collaboration within the organization.

Creates and communicates visual presentations.

Partners with developers to create innovative and technologically advanced products. Partners with material sourcing to develop innovative fabrications.

Builds relationships with athletes and sports marketing to deepen understanding of technical needs, ski and snowboard culture and current trends.

Train and develop Associate Designers.

Performs these and other duties as assigned.


What You Bring
5-8 years of related professional experience.

Bachelor's Degree in Design (apparel and/or industrial), or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Deep understanding of and connection to alpinism, mountaineering and snow sports culture.

Experience in flat sketching expertise.

Hands-on experience with CAD software.

Knowledge of pattern-making and virtual digital systems, like, Gerber Lectra, Browzwear 3D, Optitex, Clo3D a plus

Experience in creation of design packages and execution of product designs.

Creative thinker with the ability to prototype/engineer concepts for a variety of design solutions.

Experience designing athlete-centric performance apparel.

Experience in research and analysis and design cycles.

Strong knowledge of formulating color palettes.

Strong knowledge and understanding of apparel construction

Excellent communications skills, including the ability to present concepts to product teams and review boards in a persuasive manner.

Strong knowledge of product cycles.

Demonstrates an advanced knowledge of fit, pattern-making, and construction expertise, cost engineering and knowledge of manufacturing processes.

Strong knowledge of aesthetic form and the ability to design for different consumers and end uses.

Basic knowledge of textile and material construction and properties.


Salary Range:
$90,720.00 USD - $136,080.00 USD annually
Annual Incentive Eligibility:
This position is eligible to participate in VF's Annual Incentive Plan. Incentive Plan awards are contingent upon (1) achievement of your individual objectives and (2) VF achieving its' Corporate and business level financial objectives.

Long Term Incentive Eligibility:
This position is not eligible for long term incentive.
