Position: Designer, Retail Experience

How You Will Make a Difference

As a Designer, Retail Experience on The North Face Retail Environments and Store Design team, your main responsibility will be to envision, develop and execute creative marketing strategies for Brand & DTC Retail Business partners. Focused on the full spectrum of visual brand, spatial experience, and store & fixture design you will create the vision and template for world-class consumer experiences at retail. This role reports to the Design Director, Retail Environments and Store Design.

What you will do:
Develop clear retail creative direction & execution strategies in collaboration with internal and external partners to connect with consumers in a consistent brand voice and tone

Deliver best in class seasonal brand campaigns, celebrating the innovative DNA of our brand, its rich outdoor heritage and authentic connection with our world of exploration

Support cross functional alignment on key campaign launch moments and seasonal business priorities in market

Develop or assist in developing retail design and furniture concepts from initial meeting through installation

Conceptualize, draft, model and detail overall space and furniture plans, reflected ceiling plans, interior elevations, fixture and environmental graphics

Prepare design presentations for leadership and project partner approval

Manage projects, in collaboration with other internal team members and agency partners

Act or assist in acting as liaison between the TNF Brand design studio, vendors, and subcontractors including visits to project sites and vendor workrooms to oversee fabrication and installation

Be a true product expert, focused on holistic, product-driven narratives that showcase our innovative heritage that enables explorers to do the things we love, while elevating seasonal collections & emerging product technologies that define our brand in the outdoor space

Skills for Success
Years of Related Professional Experience:5+ years of technically-progressive professional experience designing spaces, with a focus on integrating storytelling and brand identity, retail experience and brand design preferred
EducationalPosition Requirements:
A professional degree in Architecture, Interiors or another related field of study
A formal architectural education and applicable undergraduate/M.Arch degrees are nice to have, but we are most interested in your total experience and professional achievements


What we expect you already know:
An exceptional portfolio of built work that demonstrates holistic and multidisciplinary expertise in architecture, graphic design, and spatial experiences

Proven 2D & 3D concept visualization expertise from hand sketching through polished presentation renderings

The ability to work quickly, efficiently, and accurately within all technical software tools (Rhino, VRay, Enscape, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketchup, Keynote etc.) Grasshopper, Unreal and AR/VR/XR experience a plus

Demonstrated success in establishing best in class retail consumer experiences, product launches and breakthrough consumer activations

Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills - a self-starter with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment

A collaborative and creative-partner mindset with specialties such as visual merchandising, product design, lighting and fabrication, etc.

Exceptional level of attention to detail and a mastery of organizational and time management skills an ease in prioritizing work and resources across engagements based on short and long-term needs

Proficient written, verbal communication and editing skills

An intrinsic interest in footwear and apparel marketing across gender

A deep understanding of and passion for contemporary art, culture, design and outdoor experience preferred

Salary Range:
$73,440.00 USD - $110,160.00 USD annually
Annual Incentive Eligibility:
This position is eligible to participate in VF's Annual Incentive Plan. Incentive Plan awards are contingent upon (1) achievement of your individual objectives and (2) VF achieving its' Corporate and business level financial objectives.

Long Term Incentive Eligibility:
This position is not eligible for long term incentive.
