Position Summary

Seirus is looking for a full-time Designer to join our team based in Poway, CA. This individual will manage their Designs from initial iteration phase to Hand-off at SMS-Production Stage. The Designer is responsible for ensuring their products maintain design intent while meeting all company initiatives and quality standards, all the while keeping target costs and delivery schedules in mind. This person will initiate fittings, advise of any adjustments and be communicating directly with factories to ensure the best possible product is received.

Ultimately this role is responsible for the design and development of a market leading snow sports accessory collection that includes but is not limited to Gloves, Face Protection, Knit Headwear, and various soft goods. Conducting seasonal research, trend forecasting, potential print development, initiating concepts, design, and tech pack creation completes this.

Essential Job Duties

Design:
- Provide trend focus by compiling images, reports, and competitive research to create mood boards that are reviewed by internal sales and executive teams to determine seasonal direction.
- Work with fellow Designers on designing categories for our Ski, Hunting, Workwear and Safety Lines.
- Design full color CAD’s with prints for design review with internal sales team prior to debut.
- Mindful of fabrics, trims, fit, and construction techniques to better meet the needs of your corresponding products.
- Assist in the sourcing or selection of new materials and make suggestions that will help elevate your designs and the brand.
- Translate your design sketch into a tech pack for Factory execution.
- Prepare, maintain, and update spec sheets as needed to maintain accurate information.
- Manage proto samples, pre-line, and SMS development; comments provided to factories to ensure all issues are identified, products are constructed correctly and completed in a timely manner.
- Uphold Design Calendar to ensure all critical milestones are met, ie: Executive check-in’s/Sale Meetings, guarantying your products are ready for commercialization/Hand-off to Product Development/Production Team at SMS Stage.

Development:

- Create tech packs using Adobe Illustrator and Excel (Including relevant Company Codes, Callouts, Colorways and Artwork).
- Perform Trend Analysis for upcoming season’s development.
- Work with SMU partners throughout the research, development and design process; create & maintain tech packs for all SMU styles.
- Assist with lab dip approvals for new materials and yarns.
- Collaborate cross functionally with Product Development, Sales, Executives, and SMU Partners to achieve best product results from all angles of the business.

General:

- Assist in design meeting preparation and product de-briefs.
- Public speaking required when presenting at Design Meetings to buyers, sales reps and Executive team.
- Assist with sample/material room clean-out and overall sample/material organization.

Skills & Requirements:

• 3 Years of related professional experience.
• Extensive knowledge of Adobe programs, Illustrator in particular.
• Experience with Microsoft Suite with emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint.
• Accustomed to working with overseas suppliers.
• Ability to travel based on company needs, ie: Tradeshows, Off-Site Sales Meetings, and occasional inspiration research.
• Highly organized with the ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects in conjunction with multiple departments.
• Forward thinker with the ability to work effectively within a team environment as well as individually.
• Project based flexible schedule needed to meet deadlines throughout year.
• Self-motivated creative problem solver with a strong sense of urgency to meet the need of corresponding products.
• Must be deadline driven, detail oriented, organized and clear in your written and verbal communication.
• Must be proactive with a solution/result oriented attitude.
• Should have a strong understanding of Cut & Sew construction and fabric types for performance product.
o A plus – Print development.
o A plus – Knowledge of knit headwear production and construction.
o A plus – Knowledge of technical requirements related to testing of fabric, trims, and finished goods.
o A plus – Design experience in men’s, women’s, and youth products.
