Overview of role: As Product Line Manager, your primary goal will be to have a constant pulse on the consumer by having a deep understanding of who they are and what they want.
The responsibility of the Product Line Manager – Mountain Bike Apparel, is to manage the current and future planning of a specified category from initial style concept through production. This is an intermediate level position responsible for driving the seasonal product creation strategy and process. Primary workload includes, but is not limited to, aligning product and product direction to meet the needs of the consumer. The Product Line Manager is a leader within the product organization in articulating and executing the category visions across materials, design, development, sales, marketing, and all cross-category team members, to assure key stories and strategies are aligned throughout a season. Provides dynamic, visible and inspirational leadership to positively impact business initiatives, direction, and vision for team and peers. Accountable for category business results, product line efficiencies and executing key initiatives. With a strong eye for product and a track record in managing a successful business, the Product Manager will be relied on to bring market differentiated product to life through collaborating closely with his/her cross functional peers. Job Qualifications: !3-5 years Apparel Product Line Management experience. !Bachelor’s Degree required. !Strong working knowledge and background of apparel product management, development and design. !Demonstrated ability to work with and inspire a broad range of individuals to work toward a common goal. !Experience in global nuances as it relates to product/features/price points. !High attention to detail, strong organizational skills. !Strong analytical and problem solving skills; including ability to think and plan strategically. !Ability to manage multiple sources of data, product seasons, and conflicting objectives (product performance vs. value/costing). !Proactive thinking, initiative and composure in a fast paced environment. !Excellent written and verbal communication, including strength in presenting complex topics in a public forum. !Strong cross-cultural understanding. !Strong Microsoft Office skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Illustrator). !Personal interest and involvement in cycling, and fitness is preferred. !Must be able to travel domestically and internationally. Approx. 15-20% may include some weekends and holidays. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: !Serve as expert on your business and target consumer(s), having a deep understanding of their needs and wants, to deliver consumer focused & relevant product solutions. !Articulating and executing the category visions across all cross-category team members to assure key stories and strategies are aligned throughout a season. !Product lifecycle management: Owns the management of the category from product brief to commercialization. Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of complex products from conception through launch. !Leverage consumer and competitive insights, market research, and industry trends to influence category concepts and products. !Benchmark competitor product / strategy, and analyze sales and market trends, to enable fact-based decision-making. !Lead cross-functional product team through product creation process, product brief through commercialization, to ensure the needs of the consumer are met. !Responsible for category margin, working with design and development throughout development process to accurately evaluate product and make appropriate changes to ensure overall category margin requirements are met. !Determine category / product segmentation that optimizes both resource and sales opportunities, and supports distribution channel needs. !Create and lead strategic product road map based on brand/category mission, strategic imperatives, financial targets, in-depth data analysis, and a clear understanding of consumer needs. !Clearly articulate the product road map, vision, priorities and requirements to multiple stakeholders in both written and oral formats. Gather and incorporate feedback from a diverse range of stakeholders. !Partner with Go-To-Market Team to align seasonal product initiatives and brand support in account doors and elsewhere through creative and relevant storytelling, bringing your vision to life at market. !Support sales force with US and international sales meeting presentations. !Brainstorm and bring advanced technology ideas to Advanced Development team to further product interest and market position. !Collaborate with internal and external team members to identify innovative materials, components, trims and construction options for future projects. !Maintain clear, timely and effective communication with all necessary parties in reviewing collection progress and resolving issues as needed.
