General Function
The Kids Group of Wolverine Worldwide drives the design and development of childrens shoes under the companys portfolio of industry-leading brands, including Merrell, Sperry, Saucony, Hush Puppies and Keds. As experts in childrens footwear, the Kids Group team is dedicated to creating comfortable, durable and stylish shoes to take kids from first steps to the school yard. The Kids Group of Wolverine Worldwide distributes through leading retailers in the U.S. and globally in approximately 200 countries and territories.

The Product Development Director leads and drives the product development team and process across all Wolverine Kids Group (WKG) brands by partnering with Design, Product Management, Asia PD, Costing, Sourcing, Product Integrity, Fit, and Demand Planning to take product from concept to buy ready completion.

Primary Duties ! Directs WKGs Product Development team.
! Serves as an active participant in developing sourcing strategies with the global operations team.
! Manages a clear strategy and process for documentation and communication to ensure the execution of product development.
! Creates and manages seasonal product creation calendars.
! Collaborates with brand product team to ensure that design, tech packs/specs, and direct source & agent factories are aligned to achieve desired target costs and margin requirements.
! Collaborate with head of Product Design & Development to drive a collaborative and ongoing product innovation engine.
! Performs duties consistent with the Companys AAP/EEO goals and policies.
! Performs other duties as required/assigned by manager.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required ! Bachelor's degree required/MBA preferred or equivalent work experience.
! 10+ years of product development experience required.
! Proven leadership skills with at least 5 years experience at the manager level.
! Technically proficient with an extensive understanding of a wide variety of footwear constructions and manufacturing processes.
! Advanced knowledge of fit/construction and costing.
! Solid computer skills including MS Office Suite.
! Process oriented with exceptional follow-through skills and attention to detail.
! Outstanding communication skills are required, including the ability to manage strong and effective cross functional relationships globally.
! Experience utilizing PLM systems.
WORKING CONDITIONSNormal office environment. Some travel may be required.
