The brand has achieved several consecutive years of industry-leading growth by creating remarkable connections with a tribe of loyal consumers known as ChacoNation.   The Director, Brand Marketing is responsible for directing the development of strategic marketing plans for major category initiatives, implementing category activation across accounts and global markets, and leading a synergistic global go-to-market approach. The oversight of these responsibilities is geared toward maximizing sales growth, and deepening the consumer’s awareness of and affinity for the brand’s product offering. This position leads a team that is responsible for managing category expression by working cross-functionally to deliver seasonal stories, develop activation strategies, harvest consumer insights, and manage respective budgets and timelines. This position reports directly into the VP of marketing and works closely with product, sales, merchandising, creative (in-house and agency) and regional leadership to drive cohesive, consumer-obsessed storytelling. The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial self-starter with a passion for consumer brands and familiarity with turning consumer data into actionable insights to win market share. An understanding of global markets and a proven track record of leading new initiatives are a must. Primary Duties • Direct the development of strategic marketing plans for major category initiatives • Lead a synergistic global go-to-market in regards to category marketing, including establishing timelines, communication cadence, templates, and defining roles and responsibilities throughout the brand milestones. • Direct the creative brief process to develop product story positioning; manage cross-channel category content. • Lead the development of product marketing initiatives, working with product, creative, marketing, DTC, merchandising and commercial leadership to gain alignment on major initiatives. • Communicate with commercial teams to ensure that global product positioning and objectives are well defined and manage global consistency of brand message. • Partner with international marketing teams to build annual marketing plans and ensure successful implementation of programs; ensure that regional needs and consumer nuances are communicated to the broader marketing division • Build annual marketing plans and ensure successful implementation of programs • Direct the development of seasonal category sell-in and sell-thru toolkits for global product marketing stories. • Evaluate the global market reaction to category briefs and executions, and provide KPI guidance and benchmarks. • Responsible for budget oversight for related expense centers, including managing the co-op budget with input from sales • Leads, in collaboration with senior product creation leaders, the development of long term global brand strategies inclusive of key product and key marketing stories. • Develops and leads consumer insights strategy ensuring consumer insights are imbedded cross functionally with a global view. • Model strong leadership behaviors including growing and developing a highly professional marketing staff. • Drive the integration of consumer insights into the category management • Performs duties consistent with the Company’s AAP/EEO goals and policies. • Performs other duties as required/assigned by manager Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Communications or equivalent work experience. • 8+ years’ marketing experience. • Major national brand experience required and international marketing experience preferred. • Strong oral and written communication skills. • Travel up to 35% WORKING CONDITIONS Normal office environment.
