Responsibilities and Qualifications

CamelBak invented hands-free hydration and is the leader in mobile hydration systems for outdoor enthusiasts, performance athletes, and military serviceman throughout the world. For over 30 years CamelBak has built a reputation for innovative products that promote hydration as a healthy part of one’s day to day routine, athletic endeavors, and physical activities in extreme conditions.

As such, the Category Planner role is highly interactive and works with multiple cross-functional teams. Leadership, collaboration, facilitation and strategic thinking are critical in this role. The Category Planner will responsible for the creation, maintenance, and overall management of global demand and supply planning for their assigned categories of product. Success in this highly visible role requires organization, time management, attention to detail, and close partnerships with product operations, sales, marketing, manufacturing, customer service, product management, logistics, finance, and Asian operations.

Primary responsibilities involve generating forecasts for global sales by applying predictive analytics to both quantitative and qualitative information with an understanding of global/regional, channel, and customer variable affects on projections. In addition, an understanding of capacity planning, inventory management and optimization, and demand risk factors as they affect supply management, will be imperative. Primary KPI’s monitored include forecast accuracy, inventory turnover, and on-time fulfillment.

Essential Job Functions:

• Create global 12-month rolling SKU forecasts utilizing historical data, current order book trends, sales team feedback, and applying forecast analytics and ensuring management consensus to the forecast plan.
• Must be proficient in moving between minute details and a high level perspective with the ability to interpret and communicate the impact to the business.
• Responsible to ensure forecast load to Oracle is completed successfully on a monthly basis.
• Continually assess forecast versus actual sales and understand the root cause of variances, identify risks and opportunities, and drive solutions to improve future results.
• Work closely with Product Management, Sales, and Product Operations regarding demand planning for NPI’s.
• Develop and use surveys to assess future demand expectations from Sales and Product Management. Understand details regarding projected growth or contraction of forecasts from sales and Product Management and the factors (temporal or long-term) involved.
• Carefully monitor active status of SKUs and adjust forecasts for ramp-up or ramp-down for end-of-life of products as needed.
• Create consolidated supply plans for current and future status of product supply for existing products as well as for future launches.
• Execute planning scenarios in support of meeting customer fulfillment and/or inventory targets with a focus on minimizing excessive inventories.
• Work closely with Product Operations to resolve supplier issues and to address day-to-day order management issues.
• Responsible for inventory levels, safety stock analysis and settings, fulfillment strategies for assigned product categories
• Owns supply flow management and purchases that make the most economical sense.
• Perform analysis that drives purchase decisions for supply and inventory planning. For assigned product categories and initiate the purchase order creation process with our Philippines operations.
• Create a supply plan in support of the demand plan with consideration of the forecast risks.
• Coordinate effective demand and supply plans for NPI products. Prepare and present forecasts and risks associated with NPI product to internal stakeholders and drive consensus supply planning decisions to buy, postpone, or drop NPI SKUs.
• Work closely with Product Operations on capacity planning and level loading of finished goods buys with suppliers and assess risks vs. opportunities.
• Participate in sales and operations planning processes.
• Work closely with customer service and logistics to provide visibility of critical shipments.
• Maintain appropriate Oracle master data and planning parameters.
Education and Training:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Supply Chain, or equivalent – MBA Preferred
• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a supply chain management or planning environment within the consumer products industry.
• APICS certification is a plus.
• High functional competency in Oracle (or other ERP).
• Experience using forecasting system analytics and modeling preferred.
• Understanding of supply chain management practices (product development, sourcing, purchasing, logistics, and distribution.)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint, Word, Excel (advanced). Forecasting database and reporting tools knowledge is beneficial.
