Senior Corporate Sponsorships Manager

Position Summary:

The Surfrider Foundation believes that conservation and business are stronger when they work together. Our partnerships with business achieve significant results that are good for our ocean, waves and beaches, coastal communities and the bottom line. In coordination with Surfrider’s leadership team, the Senior Corporate Partnerships Manager will create and maintain opportunities for businesses to support all of Surfrider’s campaigns and programs.

We work with business to innovate, advise and ensure conservation works both for them and our future prosperity.

The Senior Manager of Corporate Partnerships will:

• Identify, establish and implement new long-term relationships with businesses that advance the mission of the Surfrider Foundation through positive and measurable efforts that protect our ocean, waves and beaches.
• Develop and collaboratively implement a strategy for maintaining and managing a portfolio of high impact, long-term relationships with new and current Surfrider Foundation business partners and corporate donors.
• Lead planning and support business sponsorships of our annual Two Coasts: One Ocean events

The Opportunity:

The Surfrider Foundation leads the world’s largest grassroots network dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s ocean, waves and beaches, through approaches that turn passion for the ocean into protection. With a national network of over 80 chapters, 60 clubs, and hundreds of local campaigns and program along all coasts of the United States, Surfrider has won more than 380 coastal victories since 20016.

For an incoming Senior Corporate Partnerships Manager, it is an exciting opportunity to join an innovative team with a 32-year history of making a real, tangible difference in the protection of our coasts and ocean.

Existing and past partnerships include Aveda, Barefoot Wine and Bubbly, Billabong, Don Q Rum, Electric, JetBlue, KROQ, Volcom and Volkswagen.

Primary Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Development Director and CEO to identify, pitch, secure, develop and manage new business relationships for the Surfrider Foundation.

• Develop the overall corporate partnership strategy for the identification and solicitation of prospective targets for mission partners, cause-related marketing, sponsorship of Two Coasts: One Ocean, and other Surfrider Foundation programs as needed.

• Play an active role in helping to research, qualify, contact and cultivate new, mutually-beneficial relationships.

• Prepare and manage project budget and revenue forecasts. Ensure adherence to them for both revenue and expenses.

• Develop and refine processes and discipline to increase efficiency in partnership strategy, creative, and execution of deliverables.

• In coordination with the Marketing and Communications team create and develop marketing plans to activation all corporate outreach efforts. Ensure corporate marketing & reflect the Surfrider Foundation’s positioning, messaging and brand.

• Coordinate with the Development team to ensure all corporate outreach efforts are synchronized with the Surfrider Foundation’s current fundraising portfolio.

• Coordinate with the Mission and Chapter teams to ensure all corporate outreach efforts are aligned with Surfrider Foundation’s grassroots network and is aligned with our mission and programmatic goals.

• Coordinate with the Board of Director’s Development Committee to identify, steward and cultivate new partnerships.

• Draft and advise on communications and marketing materials for all corporate partnerships, including: writing blog posts, project stories, case studies, commentary, summaries for CSR reports and more; creating marketing and other public-facing materials; conducting social media outreach; managing related web site content; and designing collateral that adhere to the Surfrider Foundations brand in style and tone.
