As the Pre-Production Developer, you'll manage a group of re-design and re-source products from their original concept through final bulk production. In this role, you will provide costing updates for your respective categories during the development phase and will be responsible for managing communication directly with factories to create prototypes and sending size set fit approvals. Additionally, you will collaborate with the Manager of Pre-Production Team to achieve seasonal calendar initiatives.  

This is a fixed term (contract) role.

What You’ll Do
Manage prototype fit process in collaboration with appropriate team members, if required, on redesign and re-source styles. Instruct a manufacturer on necessary changes to a pattern to influence the fit
Communicate changes on fit with the factories
Manage fit/ size set samples and evaluate them upon receipt to make sure grading standards and design esthetics are followed
Responsible for Re-source product samples to be properly organized, tagged, and recorded
Organize and manage product storage system, including Design Final samples and size sets samples. Ensures that product location information is accurate in PLM
Develop and maintain BOM’s and accurate PLM database, color information and yields that result in efficient raw material purchasing
Produce accurate product construction specifications and responsible for base size measurements in alignment with our POM standards
Manage and ensure prototypes, sales samples, size sets and pre-production samples are approved to meet Patagonia quality standards and on-time delivery
Collaborate with sourcing on training of new factories for re-sources products
Ensure company standards for quality, function and reducing environmental impacts are met
Establish strong collaborative relationships with cross-functional product teams’ to ensure product success
Manage execution of all Calendar development deadlines across all phases of development to ensure dates are met
Deliver regular team performance metrics to management, keeping all PLM data entries up to date and accurate
Ensures final specs, measurement chart and BOMs are ready to send to the factories
Coordinate fit process with Fit Manager and ensure detailed notes are kept in FastFit360

Experience You Bring
5 to 7 years’ experience in garment construction and manufacturing
Knowledge of apparel construction, fit, material construction, properties, costing, embroidery, and surface applications (e.g. screen printing, etc.)
Ability to write product specs
Knowledge of garment fit and the ability to instruct a manufacturer on necessary changes to a pattern that influences the fit
Ability to negotiate on costing as required
Proven performance history with domestic and offshore vendors and manufacturers
Excellent skills in creating construction specifications in Illustrator
Ability to interpret design intent and offer alternative solutions
Good understanding of the design, development and merchandising process
Ability to work well with certain computer software programs, such as Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Office, PLM, and FastFit 360
