As a Production Manager you are responsible for building and maintaining vendor relationships, cost negotiations and delivering a quality product in a timely, consistent, and responsible manner. You will help develop manufacturing plans and strategies that address the Companys delivery and margin goals. Additionally, you will lead efforts in training and developing new factories as well as maintaining consistent performance at existing factories to ensure responsible purchasing procedures are executed to meet the Companys social, environmental, and quality standards. Your role is critical to the success of Patagonias mission statement, by implementing sourcing and production solutions that help us Save Our Home Planet.
What Youll Do
Actively manage supplier relationships to ensure all suppliers meet capacity/delivery/margin requirements, social/environmental compliance, and quality assurance standards, in addition to continually reducing their environmental footprint.
Maintain open and frequent communication with cross-functional team members including Merchandising, Design, Material and Product Development, Material Production, Supply Planning, Quality, Logistics, and SER on all issues relating to quality, delivery, social compliance, and environmental objectives while ensuring Departmental Calendar Milestones are achieved and executed on-time.
Work with Supply Planning to develop and manage production schedules to support seasonal capacity plans, reduce lead-times and minimize surcharges and excess materials.
In collaboration with the Sourcing Director, assist in establishing targets and negotiating final prices to achieve the Companys goals for gross margin and profitability. Manage all vendor negotiations in a way that builds partnerships while resulting in the fairest possible prices.
Promote and reinforce the Companys quality standards through active collaboration with the Companys Quality team. Work cooperatively with Quality Assurance Managers and Field Auditors to ensure that all bulk production orders leave the factory defect free.
Responsible for day-to-day communication with Patagonias factories, the timely review of factory Work-In-Process (WIP) reports, maintaining the Companys systems and communication of WIP status within our corporate community. Work with Logistics to ensure accurate and timely movement of shipments.
Build and maintain seasonal surcharge reports that minimize surcharge amounts and excess materials.

Experience You Bring
B.A. / B.S. degree required.
Prefer 3-5 years experience in apparel company with global suppliers.
Proficient in the use of Word, Excel, ERP and PLM systems.
Demonstrates customer service and communication skills. The ability to write clearly and persuasively in addition to defining problems and articulating solutions within a group setting and via emails.
Comfortable with team-based work structure; ability to demonstrate flexibility on the job.
Participation, understanding and working knowledge of the Companys products.
