About the job
The Apparel Designer & Developer drives the creation of innovative technical sport performance and lifestyle apparel. This individual collaborates with the Creative Director to formulate ZOIC design direction and translate product vision into executable steps in accordance with the product calendar, managing the design & development process to arrive at production ready products with approved specifications and patterns. Steps include storyboarding original concepts, style design, fabric and trims development, sourcing, and sampling.
Responsibilities include:
• Ownership of the design calendar, creating, communicating, and managing all tasks and timelines.
• Identify global and sport specific (cycling, mountain bike, outdoor) trends, interpreting these for product specific purposes
• Generate color palette; lead color process for lab dips and color approval
• Define & source all fabrics & trims from existing and new suppliers
• Develop new factory sourcing (may include travel)
• Ensure factories qualify as approved resources in compliance with company standards and customer requirements
• Create line plans for primary annual assortment plus any seasonal collections
• Prepare and present visual merchandise presentations for both internal and customer audiences
• Define, document, maintain, and disseminate all product specifications through tech pack creation and management, model fittings, revisions and approvals
