Job Description

Mad Engine is in search of a Fit Technician to join the team in Irvine, CA.

Department // Brand Product Development
Summary // Fit Tech Reports to Production Director

Essential Job Duties //
• Work with designers to establish block specs
• Create grade rules
• Set up construction standards
• Send block specs to vendors
• Coordinate and lead weekly fittings with fit model, designers and developers
• Measure samples and create spec and comment sheets
• Evaluate garment construction for quality and cost efficiency
• Suggest construction / style line changes to design if needed to improve garment flow through factory floor
• Communicate with developers, factory and QC regarding any fabric, trim and or construction issues that may be potential problems
• Send fit comments & construction comments to vendors
• Resolve fit, measurement and construction issues with factory through detailed communication
• Request fit samples and block samples as needed
• Keep production manager updated with possible production issues or delays
• Keep production manager updated with overall vendor performance
• Review acceptable tolerances with production manager & QC based on individual fabric performance
• Make sure that garments are fit and approved in time to meet production calendar due dates
• Other duties as assigned

Competency //
The Fit Tech will handle all aspects of Fit Testing, and service the Product Development team. The role provides objective results to Product Development, Quality Control, Developers and the factory.
The overall objective of the role is to ensure that the garments are of quality, fit and approved in time to meet production calendar due dates.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements //
• 5+ years’ experience in apparel technical design patternmaking experience
• Solid understanding of patternmaking and grading
• Understanding of production
• Understanding of factory procedures and flow
• Understanding of different fabric characteristics
• Understanding of sweaters and sweater construction
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Extremely well organized
• Self-starter and the ability to multi-task and prioritize the work load
• Highly proficient in Excel
