Position Overview
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for oversight and execution of purchasing duties: sourcing, negotiating vendor terms, prices, and schedules. Playing a key role in the organization the Purchasing Manager will perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend, maintain supplier scorecards, maintain vendor contracts, and continually seek out best value suppliers.
You are a self-motivated, proactive, quality focused buyer, ready to assume full ownership of the department and work well with multiple stakeholders: the trade team, legal team, finance team, supply chain teams, the sales team, and the warehouse teams. This position will be based out of our Seattle WA headquarters. Hybrid work is available, but in office time will be required as well.
Responsibilities
Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies
Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation
Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power
Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking
Assess, manage and mitigate risks
Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
Determine quantity and timing of deliveries
Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand
Adheres to purchasing policies, carries out warehouse and inventory control policies and procedures
Perform planning and initiate purchase order using ERP, backlog and other tools
Uses knowledge of material work planning, engineering processes and procedures to coordinate product deliveries
Negotiates best vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements
Build relationship with vendors and manage vendor performance
Review and manage Open Purchase Order report
Train new hires and mentor staff on internal processes
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
B.A. or B.S. in supply chain management, logistics or business administration or equivalent years of experience
Minimum of six years’ experience in similar role
Deep knowledge of inventory and supply chain management
Demonstrated experience with ERP systems
Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills
Deep knowledge of inventory and supply chain management
Advanced expertise in Microsoft tools, specifically in Excel
Preferred Qualifications
B.A. or B.S. in supply chain management, logistics or business administration
Experience implementing new ERP systems
Green Belt in Six Sigma
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit for long periods of time
Ability to enter data for long periods of time
Ability to sit in front of computer for long periods of time
May be required to lift 15-50 pounds occasionally
Must be able to distinguish colors and shapes to design and oversee graphics with or without assistance
