Design Engineer - Backcountry Products Job in Seattle, WA

POSITION PURPOSEPrimary responsibility is engineering of backcountry products, including snowshoes, shovels, probes, helmets, poles, technical packs and bags. Execute all phases of the product development cycle from concept to production support to achieve quality, delivery, cost and innovation goals. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES ! Work with the Product Director, PLM and Brand Director to develop a product line that meets the quality, delivery goals, value and innovation needs to be competitive in the market. ! On-time and accurate development execution to allow successful delivery. ! Optimize material selection, component design, and manufacturing processes to maximize value to our customers. ! Develop and maintain accurate product Specifications and Bill Of Materials. ! Negotiate fair and reasonable product costing with Suppliers. ! Develop and maintain accurate instructions and feature descriptions to support the sales and marketing teams. ! Generate and/or approve factory SOP’s, specifications and key quality measurables. ! Plan, manage and execute all product-related approvals, including product testing as required. ! Travel to trade shows, on-snow tests and overseas manufacturing facilities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS ! BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent ! 3-5 years related product development experience ! Proficient use of 3D CAD design software (Solidworks or equivalent) ! Proficient use of Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft suite. ! Self-directed, motivated, and goal-achievement oriented ! Excellent work ethic, enthusiasm, and interpersonal skills ! Excellent communication and presentation skills ! Must be able to travel for a minimum of 4 international trips for a duration of 10-14 days. ! Proficient skier and/or snowboarder.
