Dog at Work Policy Position Summary Skullcandy is seeking a strong, energetic and experienced Director of Product Development. The Director of Product Development will be responsible for all aspects of product development including R&D, engineering, program management, acoustics, technology road mapping, development and deployment to mass production start. The Director of Product Development will report to the VP of Product and will achieve their goals through strong cross-functional collaboration with the product management, industrial design, quality and operations teams. Primary Functional Responsibilities ! Plan, manage, and drive Skullcandy product development resources according to the product roadmap and Product Development Lifecycle. ! Develop project/program plans including budgets, timelines, milestones and team designs as needed to execute the development and launch of the Skullcandy product roadmap. ! Leadership, development, and management of the Park City and SZ product development organizations. ! Engineering leadership across the corporation to build a culture of product development excellence in mechanical, electrical, firmware and acoustics. ! Develop departmental strategy and vision to ensure alignment with strategic goals and objectives. ! Support cross-functional teams within and without PD including quality, PLM, ID, customer service, sales and marketing. ! Program Management for Product Delivery & Launch (incl Scope, Budget and Schedule) + related communication and escalation management ! Monitor activities to ensure compliance with core quality measures ! Develop and drive engineering methods and processes, testing procedures and processes with a goal of continuous improvement of quality of results and efficiency. Functional Leadership Competencies ! Ownership: own the tools, processes, teams, individuals, functions, documents, KPI's and systems required for successful development and commercialization of Skullcandy's products. ! Leadership: using high energy and strong initiative, encourage a strong culture of accountability and continuous improvement; know and help drive Skullcandy's strategic priorities, and make sure the team's work is aligned to the top priorities. Set KPI's and create strong execution plans. Partner with the product management, quality, id, and operations teams to deliver on time, on quality and on cost consistently. ! Communication: create appropriate communications strategies and tools to update the business regularly on status, risks and support needed to be successful. Keep the teams aligned at all times in a fast-paced environment. ! Culture: create and lead a culture of accountability and continuous improvement in the team and across the business. Create the culture of quality and execution as needed to achieve success Required Experience & Skills ! Minimum of 10-15 years professional experience in consumer electronics or professional product development roles. ! Demonstrated expertise in creating product development processes, procedures, documents and systems for efficient product and technology development. ! Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Electrical Engineering preferred. ! Demonstrated experience with complex audio systems including electrical, mechanical, firmware and acoustic disciplines. ! Previous experience leading and managing product development teams. ! Track record of leading others & positive change in project definition, project delivery, and process improvement. ! Working experience with project methodologies such as agile and related hardware and firmware development processes incl EVT/DVT/PVT framework awareness. ! Extensive experience with consumer electronics supply chain, factories and component suppliers. ! Experience working with remote and overseas teams and ability to engage across various cultural and language environments. ! Willingness to travel and participate in after-hours calls as required when working with partners in other geographic locations. !
