Job Description

** Must live in Southern California, have a passion for the ocean, and knowledge of the sport fishing industry to be considered for this role. **

Pelagic is a 15-year-old apparel brand that was born and raised in Newport Beach, California out of the pure love for sport fishing & ocean sports, and its dire need to have a proper brand of clothing that represents the lifestyle. Being an ocean based sport, the style is much akin to the surf industry, albeit with the technical focus primarily on the needs and demands of the well rounded waterman’s lifestyle... Water, wind, and sun protection with a ton of style and function. Over the last decade the sport fishing industry has taken off with a plethora or reality based fishing shows on TV and big game fishing tournaments all year long around the world and Pelagic has been right there with it since Day 1.

We're currently looking to add a Social Media Manager to our team in Costa Mesa, CA.

What you’ll be doing:
• Perform daily management of all social media channels to ensure brand awareness and image is upheld to the highest standard
• Develop an endless data base of innovative and creative media content to be used on various social media platforms including – but, not limited to – Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and our own website News Feed (The Waterman’s Journal)
• Accelerate rapid growth of all social media platforms by developing annual social media goals and objectives to ensure we are always engaging our large online fan base
• Report to Marketing Director and collaborate with graphic designers to streamline a universal social media identity
• Working closely with the Marketing Director by proposing creative strategy in-line with corporate goals
• Partner with marketing/sales team to create and execute unique contests and promotions
• Stay up to date marketing, social media, and industry trends
• Keep a monthly social media “metric” and report to marketing/sales team with key statistics and figures
• Collaborate with Pro Team members, industry partners, and important social media figures to increase brand awareness
• Identify new “brand ambassadors” in strategic regions
• Anything else we (or you) can pile on – we’re a lean company and everyone wears a few hats

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:
• Bachelors of Science Degree in marketing, business or a related discipline
• At least 5 years of experience working in the outdoor, specialty sports or active wear markets
• A minimum of 2 years as a social media manager with direct responsibility for managing multiple media platforms
• Knowledge of or experience in the sport fishing industry; a passion for fishing and the ocean
• Computer literate: Word, Excel, Powerpoint; proficient photo/video editing skills
• An eye for photography is a plus, but not required
• Self-directed, resourceful, quick thinking with a sky is the limit open mind
• Ability to multi-task and switch projects quickly and efficiently
• Well organized and possess excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
• Willingness and ability to travel anywhere the job may take you to
