Material Handler Lead

Job Summary:
The Material Handler Lead performs and participates in the day-to-day leadership of department processes and resources to meet business needs. Under the direction of a supervisor, lead a group within a department or function to successfully complete assigned duties and tasks. This position is also responsible for leading and training a team of Material Handlers in the day-to-day operations of distribution.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Must ensure Material Handlers in work groups are completing task timely and accurately.
May provide on-the-job training to new team members.
Ensure a safe working environment.
Adhere to all distribution center work rules and general housekeeping guidelines.
Must ensure customers’ needs are met (no damage products or pallets loaded on trucks).
Completes moderately complex tasks following well-defined procedures; may involve a variety of work routines.
Scheduling deliveries of import/domestic.
Work Order processing.
Use AS400 or other computer systems.
Other duties assigned by management.
Overtime as needed.
 
Job Qualifications:
Inventory Management (cycle counting) experience.
Ability to read multiple customer packing lists for receiving quantities.
Good communication skills verbal/written.
Computer literate.
Problem solving skills.
Forklift Certification (will train if necessary).
Lift to 50lbs frequently.
Speed and accuracy.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment.
 
Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent
WORKING CONDITIONS
 
Environment:
Approximately 100% of the time performing job duties is spent indoors in a warehouse with limited heating or air conditioning.
The temperature of the work environment, when in the office, is moderate.
The temperature of the work environment in the warehouse may equal to the outside temperatures of the area.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to the risk of electric shock.
Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
 
Physical Demands:
Frequently lift from overhead or below the waist
Occasionally  bend, twist, push, pull, climb, squat, crawl, kneel
Frequently reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stand and walk; grasp with hands and fingers; and lift (up to 50 lbs.)
Continuously sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and key (i.e., computer, calculator, telephone).
 
Machines, Tools and Equipment
Frequently use copier, fax, and 10-key calculator
Continuously use writing instruments, computer and telephone
Continuously use Standup reach, propane sit-down, and picking lift forklifts
