Quality Assurance Inspector (Rod Technician)

Job Summary:
The Quality Assurance Inspector (Rod Technician) is responsible for facilitating the rod warranties for Shimano American Corporation by providing and ensuring A+ customer service.
Job Level:
Experienced
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Ensure Shimano’s rod warranty policy is followed accurately.
Properly evaluate rod returns for warranty.  Contact customers when they do not qualify and offer the express warranties.
Check rod warranty replacement orders for backorders.  Make substitutions for discontinued rods.  Contact customers when they have a delay in replacement rods.
Investigate and reserve the optimal amount of rods for warranty safety stock.  Maintain warranty safety stock bi-monthly.
Contact customers with delinquent express warranty return authorizations.
Run rod non-conformances reports.
Cross train and help with other Quality Assurance tasks.
Provide return authorization inspection and processing for fishing reels and accessories.
Job Qualifications:
High degree of knowledge of Shimano fishing rods. Must understand rod construction, materials, and rod breakages. Know different models, intended uses and suitable substitution.  Intelligently communicate with customers various types of fishing.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical and follow through skills.
Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with customers and within other Shimano departments.  Strong appreciation of customer importance.  Be ready and eager to lend a hand to help customers and peers with challenges.
Computer skills (PC: Windows, Excel, Word, AS400 knowledge).  
Attention to detail is essential.
Effective time-management skills. 
Ability to work in a warehouse environment on a regular/full-time basis.
Lift and move materials 50 plus pounds.
Ability to work in fast paced environment.
Must be a well-organized, observant, self-starter, who can manage a variety of projects simultaneously with little oversight.
Frequent overtime required.
Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent
WORKING CONDITIONS
Environment:
Approximately 100% of the time performing job duties is spent indoors in a warehouse with limited heating or air conditioning.
Approximately 75% of the time is spent on the computer.
Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
The temperature of the work environment can be equal to the outside temperatures of the area.
Physical Demands:
Occasionally lift from overhead or below the waist.
Occasionally bend, twist, push, pull, climb, squat, crawl and kneel.
Frequently reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stand and walk; grasp with hands and fingers; and lift (up to 35 lbs.).
Continuously sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
Machines, Tools and Equipment
Continuously use copier, fax, printers, and 10-key calculator.
Continuously use writing instruments, computer and telephone.
