Job Summary:
Shimano Brand Specialist is responsible for knowing our consumers well on a regional basis – understanding the local retail landscape, local fisheries and local SHM Pro Staff, awareness of local angler styles of fishing employed and species targeted – with an eye for opportunity to strengthen the brand image locally.
In addition to understanding the Shimano consumer, the Shimano Brand Specialist is responsible for creating the Shimano in-store brand experience - to achieve sales goals through sales support at retail, enhanced customer service and engagement, and product management through locally directed merchandising presentation and trade show execution.
As our Shimano Brand Specialist , you'll assist in the creation and execution of category and regional initiatives for our company that drive brand strength, fuel consumer demand and strengthen our connection with consumers.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Localized Marketing: Work with A+ customers in the IFD channel to develop specific product promotions for their customer on a seasonal basis to create consumer demand.
Promotions to support business priorities of growing sales in LP, Rods or Spin categories.
Prioritize Spring Thaw/Season Openings, Father’s Day and Black Friday or other impactful promotional periods


Integrated Marketing: Identify opportunities to tie national and local marketing efforts together for maximum impact.
Connect opportunities for pro staff and retailers to develop a relationship with the retailer through driving customers into the shop requesting SHM gear.
Connect local media with local pro staff and retailers.
Monitor social media relevance regionally and suggest regional post topics/timing.
Identify regional story lines and impactful content suggestions (profiles, education points, tips and tricks, system introductions, etc.).


Merchandising: Assess merchandising needs by store and track competitor trends and activity; apply regional focus to merchandising by store (SKU rat. and imagery); manage any in-store merchandising installations.
Improvement in rod merchandising – share of first line of sight from entry. Before/After images.
KPI SKU Rat - Stores sales increase; competitor SKUs displaced.


Education:  Increase customer and consumer education and awareness of Shimano technology pillars, product applications, warranties and services.
Educate retail associates in the shop and on the water. 
Increase consumer education by having direct contact with consumers in a retail or trade show environment.


Gather feedback on what’s working regionally:
You'll be the voice of the consumer, reporting on trends, impressions and opportunities for improved communication and support.
You will strengthen the brand image by applying consistent merchandising efforts and identifying added opportunity for brand exposure.
Monitor and track key consumer group behavior.
Work closely with Marketing, Product and Sales teams to identify influencers and stay current on market trends.


Gather market data:  You'll support the development of strategic marketing plans and briefs through the completion of field-work/research needed for the plans.
Gather market information and sales information from customers.
Conduct consumer surveys and gather consumer data.


Advertising:  Gain increased regional advertising support for the Shimano brand by promoting customer participation in the co-op program and supporting the ad development and approval process. 
Photography and videography talent required.
Work closely with the Marketing and Sales teams to ensure coordinated communication and program execution.
Work effectively with assigned marketing budgets, tracking expenses and results.

Job Qualifications:
Three years' experience in consumer marketing or related experience in marketing strategy, marketing planning, marketing implementation, retail merchandising, display and consumer servicing and events execution.
Strong knowledge of fishing industry and trends in the marketplace.
Understand the competitive market, customers and retail trends.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including meeting facilitation and presentations.
Ability to lead initiatives and project teams.
Ability to balance creativity with organization and discipline in fast moving, ambiguous environment.
Familiarity and working knowledge and experience with assigned territory.
Position located in Charleston, SC; with frequent and extended periods of travel on regional assignments required.
Marketing experience targeted to a variety of different consumers with a strong understanding of varying regional trends is preferred.
Familiarity with Shimano brand and product portfolio necessary.
Strong understanding of our company's matrix and product lines is preferred.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing or related field
