Job Description

The Controller will be responsible for overseeing and directing all accounting functions, including day-to-day financial accounting and reporting related to the Company’s various domestic and international wholesale, distribution, Ecommerce, and retail entities. This role is highly visible and requires strong communication, analytical, and decision making skills.

Responsibilities

Manage accounting , AP, and AR staff and work closely with Payroll/Treasury and Finance functions
Responsible for overall accuracy of the general ledger, including ownership of all activities related to the monthly/quarterly/annual close process
Oversee the accurate & timely preparation and/or review of journal entries
Prepare various account reconciliations and reports related to the close, including complex inventory analysis
Review and approve staff financial reports, reconciliations and supporting schedules
Prepare various management and executive financial reports and analysis
Review and approve Accounts Payable functions, including vendor invoice entry, check runs, invoice aging review, and annual 1099 issuance
Oversee accounts receivable and credit functions, including financial statement review for credit extension, collection and aging reviews, customer account clean-up, and credit memo approval
Work closely with treasury on frequent cash flow analysis to manage payables and other obligations
Perform royalty income postings and analysis
Work closely with external accountant on annual review by providing required supporting schedules, responses to inquiries and other miscellaneous requests
File and/or provide information to accountants to file sales tax, GST, VAT and other miscellaneous tax returns for all legal entities
Work closely with owner and external accountants regarding income tax returns and other tax planning analysis
Work closely with outside foreign accountants in various countries regarding all accounting and tax issues for international entities
Conducts performance reviews for direct reports including midyear and annual reviews
Aids in establishment of internal control policies and operating procedures
Works cross-functionally with other departments to increase financial reporting accuracy
Special projects, as deemed necessary

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
A minimum of 6-10 years of related experience, including supervisory experience
Must have experience with inventory accounting and management
Excellent Microsoft Excel skills a must
International experience a plus
Full Circle experience a plus
CPA preferred
Ability to research and discuss accounting and reporting issues
Must have high degree of accuracy, very detail-oriented
Good time management skills, priority setting
Strong communication and leadership skillset
Adaptable, flexible in a changing environment
Technical knowledge of accounting concepts, practices, procedures, and financial reports
