The Category Merchant for Youth Apparel and Footwear will support and execute on UA’s overall brand and channel strategy in the Youth space. Core responsibilities will include managing revenue, inventory efficiency and go-to-market operational effectiveness of the Youth Apparel and Footwear categories.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Create, define, and manage a merchandising vision and business strategy for the Youth (Boys and Girls) Apparel and Footwear categories in partnership with the Youth GM.
Lead a team of two merchants for revenue and personal development success.
Create and optimize product assortments within the global range that will maximize potential for revenue and profit across regions and accounts.
Partner with a team of cross functional experts assigned to the same category that include planning, product, marketing and a category strategist.
Work closely with category merchandising leads of other key business units to ensure full brand alignment and maximize market opportunity.
Create a merchandising flow calendar that identifies key items, trends, and product launches appropriate to the product category.
Represent Youth Category at the merchandising, marketing and other cross functional category meetings.
Analyze historical sales performances and use as influence in making merchandising strategies for future assortments.
Foster positive relationships with regional partners, soliciting their feedback and insight as to product needs and consumer reactions to product assortments and items.
Analyze and clearly communicate competitive positioning, market, and opportunities
Provide direction to Product partners regarding market opportunities, consumer insights, and product assortments
Partner with the Product team in assorting the category focusing on strategic targets, local market characteristics, budgets and SKU counts
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
The Category Merchant will work cross-functionally throughout UA to build a collaborative, supportive operating environment.  We need a consensus-builder and an owner to move the needle and drive results.
The ideal candidate will be a strong operator with a minimum of 7 years of experience in increasingly senior product management or merchandising positions.  The individual will likely have experience in a well-regarded consumer products company, and a professional/personal involvement and/or relationship with performance footwear and the Youth market. 
QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent leadership skills and the ability to collaborative effectively. 
Strong analytical and conceptual skills.
Ability to be part of a team, set challenging standards, develop strong partnerships, and lead others to action.
Knowledge of both Apparel and Footwear product lines and Under Armour’s position within the industry.
Ability to communicate product strategies verbally and in writing.
Have experience with a variety of go-to-market models (direct to consumer, wholesale, retail, etc.)
