Summary
Manages daily operations in the responsible domain by strategically planning and engineering the UA global systems and network infrastructure environment. Ensures that a clear strategic direction and use of hardware and/or software are designed and installed in a manner that meets the needs of the organization, which include reliability, scalability and resiliency. Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks in a high-paced environment. Leads and directs the work of others. You will lead and develop a team to innovate and define new features and architecture on schedule, aligned with project and strategic goals. Identifying and solving technical problems is an important part of this role, as is project and resource planning. You will provide guidance to systems engineers regarding their personal and career development, performance, and productivity; and will retain and attract world class system engineering talent. This individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Demonstrate strong customer service, organizational skills, attention to detail, and punctuality.
Defining Core feature roadmap delivered across multiple services and technologies
Planning and execution of the system engineering team tasks including setting the relevant priorities
Hands on involvement in the definition, architecture, design and productization of key, complex functional requirements
Responsible for maintaining and testing disaster recovery for all critical business applications/systems.
Responsible for operational support, architectural and standards development, vendor relationship management, and project management.
Align technical vision with business strategy and be responsible for all aspects of the development, implementation, maintenance and uptime of a growing global network environment.
Spends the majority of time achieving organizational objectives through the coordinated achievements of subordinate staff.
Establishes departmental goals and objectives, functions with autonomy.
Manages the accountability and stewardship of human, financial, and often physical resources in compliance with domain goals and objectives.
Ensures team adheres to defined internal controls.
Participate in solution architecture discussions and making qualified recommendations regarding technology selection, performance, and availability for targeted workloads.
Maintain compliance with PCI-DSS standards across in-scope environments.
Hardware/Software upgrades and maintenance on global network devices.
Manage engineers working with our Datacenter, Backbone, Hardware and Software networking teams to build, scale, deploy and support our global network infrastructure.
Help define, and drive regular development of an aggressive technical roadmap to meet the needs of the team, and partner teams
Be a hands on manager with deep technical experience in networking, systems and software
Operate in a rapidly evolving environment, adapt quickly to new information, re-prioritize as needed
Manage engineers to strengths, enable, unblock, and grow talent through coaching and technical mentoring. Identify, cultivate and grow technical leaders
Supervisory Responsibilities
Managing a team of network engineers aiding them to achieve professional and personal growth.
Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
5+ years of Cisco technology related experience within a high growth global environment
7+ years of experience around designing data center solutions with a well-rounded global background around systems, networking, and security experience
5+ years of experience as a manager or technical team lead
Successful track record of assessing a current, rapidly growing network environment and having the know-how to architect, design and implement a superior systems solution
Strong ability to provide thought leadership within the organization and successfully negotiate with key stake-holders
Strong ability to work cross-functionally and gain stake-holder trust and buy-in on the right solutions while keeping costs at a minimum
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree preferred and 10+ years of related experience managing a team responsible for Systems and Compute services.
Well versed in network troubleshooting – LAN, WAN, Subnetting, basic routing, etc.
3-5 years of network tooling and automation experience.
Experience managing one or more Cisco technologies:  Routing, Meraki, Nexus, EIGRP
Experience managing complex network environment:  iWAN, DMVPN, Firewall, QoS
