The role of the Footwear Materials Analysis team is to assure adherence with Under Armour material standards.  The role requires fast and reliable analysis of development submissions, effective involvement with development and sourcing to guide developments based on knowledge and results. The role helps assure the on-time delivery of production material, accurate analysis of test results, timely resolution of problems, and effective communication of material status throughout the production process.  Analysts are also responsible for analyzing test reports sent by suppliers/outside testing labs, limited physical testing in our own lab for correlation/confirmation purposes, analysis of variability in test data, production approvals and problem solving -- all within a demanding environment that seeks to balance our simultaneous commitment to quality, innovation, cost containment, delivery and social/environmental improvement. As a manager in this role, additional responsibilities will be required outside of the daily testing of materials.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Ability to provide cohesive and educated recommendations based on knowledge of footwear manufacturing as well as interpretation of laboratory test data.
Help define and document all internal and external test procedures, continually reducing the level of variability within the testing procedures themselves.
Manage and maintain the daily operations of the testing lab. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Scheduling maintenance and calibrations on laboratory equipment.
Communicating to UA facilities any issues or needed maintenance to laboratory infrastructure.
 Making sure the laboratory and its analyst are fully equipped with needed consumables and other tools to complete the tasks at hand.

Assist the Materials Senior Lab Manger in creating and maintaining manuals and procedures pertaining to footwear materials and testing.
Effectively communicate test results to Development team and/or other key stakeholders.
Actively participate in the development, utilization, and maintenance of lab equipment and material information systems. 
Establish an on-going Quality Assurance procedure with all vendors using adequate submit systems and vendor supplied test data.
Input all test data into Under Armour databases allowing for analysis of variability and historical reference.
Validate marketing claims, utilizing testing methods if necessary.
Stay current in new technologies, processes, industry trends and changes in test methodologies.  Re-evaluate appropriateness of test requirements for intended end use of material styles as needed.

Education and/or Experience
BS and/or 5+ years of laboratory experience in Textiles, Materials, or Mechanics
Extensive knowledge of footwear material characteristics, construction techniques and quality
Current knowledge of industry testing methods/standards (SATRA, ISO, AATCC and ASTM)
Basic understanding of Quality Management and Statistical Quality Control concepts and practices, based on work experience or study
