Summary
The role of Materials Lab Analyst is to assure adherence with Under Armour material standards.  The role requires fast and reliable analysis of development submits, effective involvement with development and sourcing to guide developments based on knowledge and results. The role helps assure the on-time delivery of production material, accurate analysis of test results, timely resolution of problems, and effective communication of material status throughout the production process.  Analysts are also responsible for analyzing test reports sent by suppliers/outside testing labs, limited physical testing in our own lab for correlation/confirmation purposes, analysis of variability in test data, production approvals and problem solving -- all within a demanding environment that seeks to balance our simultaneous commitment to quality, innovation, cost containment, delivery and social/environmental improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Manage all production testing and approvals. Communicate results and recommendations to Development, Purchasing, Product Management and appropriate teams.
Actively participate in the development, utilization, and maintenance of lab equipment and material information systems. 
Establish an on-going Quality Assurance procedure with all vendors using adequate submit systems and vendor supplied test data.
Input all test data into Under Armour databases allowing for analysis of variability and historical reference.
Communicate the quality and delivery status of all production material to Materials QA, Product Development, Production and Purchasing.
Interface with Color Department to ensure correct comments are communicated to material suppliers.
Work in conjunction with field quality, sourcing personnel and material mills to resolve issues in cutting facilities. 
Validate marketing claims, utilizing testing methods if necessary.
Stay current in new technologies, processes, industry trends and changes in test methodologies.  Re-evaluate appropriateness of test requirements for intended end use of material styles as needed.
Participate in trade shows, tours and clinics as needed.

Education and/or Experience
BS, AS, or 1-3 years of laboratory experience in Textiles, Materials, or Mechanics
Knowledge of fiber characteristics, textile processing and textile testing, gained through college curriculum and/or equivalent work experience.
Basic understanding of Quality Management and Statistical Quality Control concepts and practices, based on work experience or study.
