Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Lead a team of developers responsible for one or more product categories, from design concept to production including bill of materials, specs, pattern blocks, construction, etc.
Engineer and optimize garments for production efficiency and to deliver functionality, aesthetic, fit and margin to financial plan
Lead one or more categories in building, training and managing efficient process to deliver accurate        tech packs that result in high quality prototypes
Responsible for developing and training technical designers on fit competencies.
Advanced fitting and pattern making skills
Own seasonal fit direction at the category level and ensure adherence to global fit standards
Responsible for approving 2D/3D blocks. Coordinates training on pattern skills and grading for team
Responsible for approving new artwork techniques and establishing standards
Train and onboard new and current vendors on technical design requirements and vendor development strategies
Manages workflow of one or more category. Responsible for prioritization of the category and communicating risks
Collaborates with cross functional team to meet calendar deliverables and makes recommendations on seasonal development calendar changes
Owns key cross functional development meetings.  Ensure meeting objectives are met and advises risks to commercialization
Provides input and support in the development of overall department and supply chain strategic plans linked to brand vision and mission
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manage one or more category of teammates. Responsible for training, development and monitoring performance.
Creates an environment that supports and rewards strong performance and professional growth
Required Skills and Competencies
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
Bachelor’s Degree from a 4 year Fashion Design program
Minimum 8 years progressive experience in technical design or product development
Must have leadership experience including managing multiple teams
Advanced 2D patternmaking skills (must have on the job experience, not classes/theory only)
3D pattern experience preferred
Advanced expertise fitting on live models and virtual models including size sets; Expertise fitting multiple product types and gender
Advanced knowledge of garment construction
Expertise building Development & Production Tech Packs
Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, a PLM system, Excel and Gerber or Optitex PDS
Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize and delegate workload and concurrently manage multiple projects
Domestic and international travel as needed
Factory experience preferred
Experience managing a product line
Superior written and verbal communication skills.  Must be able to lead product presentations in a clear, concise, engaging manner
Cultivates an expanded network of cross functional skilled partners to solve category issues
