The Copywriter, Categories is a masterful storyteller on Under Armour’s Global Brand Team who is motivated and energized by the power of sport and training. The Copywriter’s creative work needs to carry the passion of our Team Sports consumer and the power to help inspire the very best in human performance.
The Copywriter is obsessed with athletes, attitude, and authenticity at every customer touchpoint, especially digital. This versatile storyteller is also driven and unrelenting in the face of the challenges that balancing big projects and tight deadlines bring.
Under the Creative Director, (Categories), the Copywriter, Categories creates the best expression of UA’s brand voice across all of Under Armour’s Category marketing and advertising content to attract, engage, and convert our target demographic, which we call the Focused Performer. This individual must be skilled with many kinds of writing, from campaign concepting to video scripting to social activation ideas to product copywriting, and beyond. This effort includes partnering with art directors, designers, and other writers to develop transformative storytelling executions and experiences that strengthen the brand’s emotional connection with the Focused Performer. Key collaboration in this role is the visibility it provides to the Global Copy Team to ensure cohesive storytelling across all channels/touchpoints.
Responsibilities:
Write,the development of on-brand copy and concepts (informed by our Brand Vision, Mission, and Values) across all digital, social, web, experiential, and print marketing platforms. This includes meeting with partners to align on marketing/creative strategy, as well as collaborating with creative and cross-functional partners.
Play a role in content strategy with Consumer Engagement and Marketing partners to ensure compelling, effective content is delivered to the Focused Performer.
Collaborate on presentations to pitch new concepts.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising, Writing, Marketing, or equivalent.
Experience:
Minimum of 2-4 years of communications and/or copywriting/content development experience.
Experience writing copy across digital channels and developing original campaign concepts are essential.
Qualifications:
Ability to create positioning and creative communications strategies based on seasonal big stories and transform those strategies into copy for all marketing vehicles.
Be an advocate for the brand and an expert on our products—translate that understanding into concepts and actionable sales materials/consumer experiences.
Commitment to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external partners.
Ability to think strategically, manage many tasks at once, and deliver high-quality output every time, on time.
Willingness to go the extra mile to get the work done and meet commitments made to others (reliability and accountability).
Critical Skills:
Excellent verbal, written, communication, and presentation skills.             
Excellent leadership, organizational, and collaboration skills.
Microsoft Office and Mac platform proficiency.
