About the job
Purpose: As Senior Footwear Designer, you will design and develop advanced comprehensive product solutions that are aligned with Arc’teryx design philosophies and continuously exceed our users’ evolving needs. Key responsibilities and accountabilities: · You collaborate with Design Director – Outdoor Product and Footwear Product Line Manager to assist with category/activity vision as well as long term strategy · You create a strong working relationship with our team overseas and communicate on a daily frequency · You focus on user needs through research and observation (user-centered design approach) · You drive the commercialization of innovative technologies including new materials, constructions, and manufacturing techniques · You execute assigned collections and projects within both seasonal and long term R&D timelines · You patiently and effectively mentor Designers and Developers by sharing skills, knowledge and experience to build additional capability within the organization · You create patterns, mock ups, and prototypes to prove new concepts · You provide detailed product initiations to Product Development, including spec drawings, pattern, fit, and material · You coordinate with the Materials team to source, develop, and test new materials · You develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the Arc’teryx materials and manufacturing techniques · You collaborate closely with other Designers to create new and better toolbox solutions · You present work at internal reviews and annual sales meetings · You stay up to date with industry trends, collaborate with Arc’teryx athletes and other industry representatives to help ensure Arc’teryx is exceeding our customers evolving needs · You assist with current product design changes where necessary in order to address in-line production issues · You have meticulous attention to detail while also being able to design a cohesive collection of footwear · You collaborate with the Colour team to provide end use needs, material considerations, and provide feedback · You adhere to Arc’teryx Sustainability Design Principles while also contributing to future improvements · You attend tradeshows and company events as required Additional experience, education and/or skills: Required · You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial/Product Design or equivalent industry experience · You have 8 + years designing footwear with a hands on approach · You have a thorough understanding of soft goods, molded/tooled parts, and various manufacturing processes · You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues, seeking the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions with an unwavering commitment to do what is right · You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity · You effectively balance autonomy and collaboration · You inspire breakthrough thinking and continuous improvement · Your passion for your work is paralleled by your passion for getting outside and living it · You have excellent intuition for the activities we make product for Assets: · Proficient in Adobe Suite (Illustrator/Photoshop) · 3D Software experience *Make sure to include your portfolio or samples of your work *Open to International applicants Apply for this job
